At long last the excellent soundtrack to the Torchwood series is finally released. The CD has nearly 79 minutes over 32 tracks of great music from Ben Foster and Murray Gold. Like the first two Doctor Who OSTs this one does not disappoint although I must confess that I found this one slightly more enjoyable than the other discs by Murray Gold. The CD has tracks that mainly stem from the second season of the show and it covers all the classic scores for a sci-fi series. It's dramatic (The Chase), poignant (Out Of Time), haunting (Pearl and the Ghostmaker), sad (Death of Toshiko) and strange (Look Right Then Leave). This was the first time I had heard the Libera group as I was sent the CD as a gift. To begin with I really didn't care for some of the music - remember I hadn't heard this style of choral singing before and it took a bit of getting used to, but I sat down on Saturday and listened right through and by the time it was finished I was hooked. I loved the setting of Bach's Air on a G String in particular, and then right at the end the performances of Blake's Little Lamb and the In Paradisum are exquisite. This is a very fine choir matching in quality the Westminster Cathedral choristers, and I really can't recommend the disk too highly.

There are now many releases in the EMI 'Great Recordings of the Century' series, and this has to be one of the best I've heard. The three pieces on this CD date from the 1960's and all have benefited from recent remastering. The 'Cello Concerto' is a 1965 recording performed by Jacqueline du Pre (who else would you expect?) and remains today, more than 40 years on, the standard to which all other performances of this work are measured. I'm sure I am amongst many others who regret not having seen such a gifted musician play live. I've seen several performances of Elgar's cello concerto, and always find that the best are when the soloist totally immerses him/herself into the music and brings out the emotions from somewhere ... just beautiful, some melodies are so simple but so moving, they make you cry, others just clear your mind and refresh your soul, I even use it for stress management and relaxation classes

Many people will be surprised by the negativity of the comments by bert1761, the first and previous reviewer of this disc on Amazon.com. First, let me say that I deplore the practice of some Amazon readers who give another reviewer a negative vote simply because they do not agree with the opinion expressed. I think "bert" writes honestly, more in sorrow than in anger, and that his is a thoughtful, intelligent, sincerely held opinion that deserves careful consideration. I know what he means by the overt expressiveness of Fleming's interpretation but I do not agree that it is obtrusive or excessive. The voice is in wonderful condition and she is able to sustain the line with apparently effortless ease - except when she clearly chooses to disrupt it deliberately for emotive ... Read More:

This is an amazing recital from the fab Ms Kozena. This woman could sing the phone book and it would move me. Magdalena sings with such power and emotion. I have played this CD everyday since I brought it and went to see Magdalena perform some of the arias/songs from this CD at the Barbican in London and the whole audience seemed to be spellbound her her presence. I do recommed this CD along with last year's Handel recital.

shonberg and boubile really outdone there selves on this one. les miserable has been my favourite musical since the age of 7 (now 17) this fabulous CD has made a My collection complete...The opening song to the finale...be sure be amazed...in this you will find humour from the theanidares...pasion from the love struck cosette, marius and eponine. you will find Gut wrenching kindness and compasion from the star of the show Jean Val Jean...and what is a show with out a villan...Officer Javert is the piest de resistance!!! Listen out for On my own, Master of the house, stars, empty chairs at empty table Your musical life has not yet begun until this show has been listened to!!!!!!!

This album remains one of the best, Anything but dull, real joy in worship with many favourites. I love this style of music and it does justice to the wonder of God's mighty works. Great when you have friends round or just listening in the car or at home. Wonderfully inspirational tracks.
