Christmas comes once a year, this disc will be played perhaps twice. That would be too much. Bennett sings white Christmas as if he was dragging teeth. The Christmas melody is close to what its all about, but the rest, well nothing rang my bell, the price is wrong, not value for money. I think around a pound a disc should cover it. Still a little charity to Tony wont go amiss.

Anyone who is by now fed up with the same old Christmas chestnuts being flogged to death every year should run out and buy this now. Everything released by the Pearlfishers is simply wonderful and this is no exception from the uplifting and simply joyous opener "Snowboarding" to the genuinly moving and beautiful version of "Away In A Manger" that closes the album.

This album is close to perfection... Remember when you were a child and you woke up on christmas morning?? They joy of the presents!!! Snow outside!! This cd takes you back to that time!! The pure joy of the music, the melody, the interplay of the voices. You really feel cleaner after hearing this! For one fleeting moment, you become what you used to be, perhaps even what you wished you could be. I love xmas. I love this album.. and if you give it a chance, so will you!

Michael W. Smith has released two previous Christmas CDs, and they are staples of my December. This new release will be taking an honored place beside them in my December rotation. This release is a combination of his two previous releases. It mixes the choral feeling of the first one with the pop of the second one. And, as something new, he mixes in lots of instrumental pieces. 5 of the 11 songs are fully instrumental. But the orchestra sounds wonderful. What is truly amazing is that this release sounds Christmassy from start to finish from the very first listen. Only one track, "What Child is This" is a traditional piece. This set contains both of Streisands festive albums. The first 'Christmas album' remains one of the all time classics. From the high-camp of 'jingle bells' to streisands hauntingly gorgeous 'silent night', the album is a sheer revelation from start to finish. Its a fine example of her 60's voice and intonation and remains a favourite to many fans. the second album 'chistmas memories' came nearly 30 years after the first, but as always with streisand the wait is justified. the song selection is near perfect, and the whole work has a deeply atmospheric, almost cinematic feel. streisand takes festive standards ('i'll be home for christmas'), gorgeous ballads ('closer'), modern pop songs ('it must have been the miseltoe') and spiritual epics ...
