This a wonderul comedic twist on The Twelve Days of Christmas by Frank Kelly which we hear all to seldom on the radio. The song was relased in 1982 and reached number 8 in the Irish Singles Chart. The only question is, how come it didn't make number 1!

For years I had been searching for the perfect Xmas CD to have playing in the background whilst the family are busy enjoying the day.............whether it be helping preparing the lunch, dressing the tree, entertaining friends and family with drinks and nibbles or simply sitting in front of an open fire on Xmas Eve watching the flickering flames in the dim of the evening. This album is made up of very good quality, and powerful, music. I cannot fault the performances, or the production for that matter. The problem occurs, that if like me, your cd player is not remote controlled, then throughout the entire album you will be up and down up and down of your seat to ajust the volume (even during the same song, never mind for each one individually). The above ^ will apply to all of you, unless you have no neighbours whatsoever within a mile or so of you and volume is no consideration. I have never ever, in 30 years, known a music album with such a massive variance of volume level. Ever ! And that unfortunately, ruins the experience.

I love this, its my favorite holiday album. This album is modern yet you still feel there are traditional elements in this album. I bought this album a year ago and i'm glad i did because it still sounds just as fresh.

Nothing quite puts you in the festive mood like an old classic from Irving Berlin and with Blake's two versions of the song, it's double the fun. The first version is more classically inspired and in keeping with the original that we all know and love. The second version (festive mix) is much more up tempo but still has a wonderful sound, thanks to the unique harmonies and arrangements provided by Blake.The third song on the CD, In The Bleak Midwinter, is another Christmas favourite and really hi-lights the wonderful voices of the group members, not just as an ensemble but also as individuals. One of the Best Christmas Albums of all-time. I have the C.D ,and the video, and the cassette. I play them every xmas and it just gets better. Dolly wrote most of the Carols and they are as good as the old classics. Great songs ,well sung by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. Very seasonal . Love it!!!

A little gem of a cd; there are quite a few songs that I had never heard before which makes it a change from the normal Christmas carol compilations - though for all I know they may be Celtic (or Irish) standards. The instrumentation, as one might expect from the title, includes harps, pipes whistles and guitars as well as strings and is very nicely done; as someone else has remarked the effect is otherworldly in parts, and in others I find it attractively 'ancient'. I would thoroughly recommend this cd as something to listen to in it's own right or as background music whilst putting the tree up, which I suspect is what most people would want it for. An absolute snip at the price too !!
