I LOVE this film! I cannot let a year go by without watching it. I defy anyone not to crack up watching Chevy Chase on that saucer sled. Hilarity itself. If you haven't seen it, buy it. If you have seen it, buy it anyway.

The Grinch feels like a movie made for two reasons: to cash in on Christmas. And to cash in on Dr Seuss. The movie lacks charm. Nothing really works within it. Carrey's performance is tolerable, but I think Seuss would be mortified at how they've portrayed his character. The Whos of Whoville are some of the creepiest make-up jobs I've ever seen. Although I'm not surprised they made it screen looking this eerie, since Ron Howard is the director, and I've yet to be impressed by anything he's put on screen. The one saving grace of this film is some really nice portrayals of Christmas-y landscapes. They do a great job of evoking that warmth and wonder of Christmas season. There are still omissions, in particular the Herbert Hoover song by the homeless people and also the Tomorrow song in the White House. But in the main it is a much more realistic adaptation than the Aileen Quinn 1981 film which just changed huge chunks and added songs (like the hideous Let's Go to the Movies sequence instead of the much more captivating NYC). We had to do a christmas carol at school for gcse and we watched the real video but I was told to watch this and i found out that i had it in the cupboard!! I watched it during christmas and now I have to watch it at least 10 times each christmas it gets you in the holiday mood its awesome!!!!......If you don't have it already then buy it please PLEASE !! its awesome :D xXx
