I bought this album on the strength on the one song i heard on the radio " I Cant Make You Love Me" and was suprised to find so many other gems on this album. I really didnt know alot about Bonnie Raitt but i am glad that i do now, she has a really sweet voice and the songs are just beautifull they really seem to hit me where i am at in my life at this present moment. I would recommend her to anyone.

Kris has written many beautiful songs and can be considered as one of the top writers in popular music especiallly in Country. However when he interpretes his own songs I feel there's something lacking which prevents him from being a "tophit scorer". His voice is sad and can't reach the depth needed. Just listen to the same songs sung by others who made it # 1 hits. Their interpretations are so different from his and still so much better. This is the first Ryan album I bought and now I have all of his stuff it's still one of my favourites. He's unquestionably (to me) one of the most talented singers/songwriters there has ever been, and how other less deserving artists continuously receive more attention and sales remains beyond me, but the sensible people know who's best! Gold is Ryan's most accessible album, in the sense that the songs are catchy (and most of them are radio-playable), but that doesn't mean they are any less intelligent than any of his other material. He sings thought-provoking, challenging lyrics which always repay careful listening. I have been a Toby Keith fan a few years now and love all his recent albums but this has go to be his best yet. Brilliant start to cd with the uptempo That Don't Make Me A Bad Guy and the ballads are great too.

This compilation covers all the 13 A side singles & 7 of their B sides during or after their period. The music is a mix of Country, Rhythm & Blues & Rock & Roll with a dash of Hard Rock thrown it & the Country Funk "Down On The Corner". The reason I'm giving this 3 stars is the fact that I'm not that into Country Music which nearly half the selection sounds like on here. My other gripe is that not all the B sides are here. Then again this got released on vinyl in 1976. On the other hand with CD technology (80 mins) they could of re-released it to include all the B sides. If you are curious about this band (like I was) I recommend this as a starting point. If you are a Countryish fan you can add to more stars to mine.
