So many other reviews have so succinctly said what I fear I may fail to say. I was working her Birmingham 2005 concert when Restless stopped me in my tracks. As a Steward it is a rare, fine musical band that can cajole me into buying two of their CDs instantly, on the face of one beautiful song.....but am I glad! AKUS's music could be for those gentle folk who do not want to admit to liking some country music. It could be for those who like exquisite harmonies and pure sound. Or it could simply be for those who love. If you've never been dumped.....if you've never felt crushed....if you've never looked into someone's eyes and seen their soul stare back, then for god's sake buy this album. You simply haven't lived.

when reviewing a compilation of material by the most successful artist of all time,(over one billion records sold) it seems that it is easy to miss the point. dont try and compare this fantastic album with any other by mr. presley or any other artist. just try to listen to each and every song, every vocally perfect moment, every note delivered with a passion that no-one before or after, has or will get anywhere near. if you are new to his work then you should buy this cd, but dont try and categorise it like so many who call themselves "elvis experts" who over analyse what is the best music ever made. enjoy it. thats what elvis would have wanted you to do.

Whilst not a huge Byrds fan at the time I like the other reviewer saw the 1971 tour. Quite simply the concert was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

Dylan - an icon. The Byrds - iconic. Dylans songs played by the Byrds - better than the originals - sometimes. This album originally released on vinyl nearly 30 years ago is timeless. All of the classics of the 60's have been included. No one faintly interested in rock music can fail to recognise the opening bars of Mr Tambourine Man. It keeps getting better over the remaining 19 tracks. The Byrds regularly dipped into Dylans songbook throughout their career, and here they are together on one handy disc - all jangly Rickenbacker and spot on harmonies. The Byrds took from the masters table and and created their own unique blend of lyrical and musical brilliance. Reginald Dwight's 3rd album proper was released in late 1970 and firmly established Elton John as one of the great singer-songwriters of the Seventies. I bet this was a fantastic live show - shame it sounds so flat on the CD! Unlike the other reviewer I came to this recording as a fan of Willie Nelson. I think Willie sounds pretty good on the whole - I just wish there was a bit more of him! His regular harmonica buddy, Mickey Raphael, is the real star of the show for me - his soloes shine above everyone else! The first two tracks, "Bright Lights, Big City", and Willie's own "Night Life", are the highlights for me. The lowest points being the two tracks associated with Hank Williams ("My Bucket's Got a Hole in It" and "Nobody's Business"), which, for me, don't seem to work in this jazz setting. I bought this cd as its regarded by many as being influential on rock genres that were to follow. While there are a few decent tracks here, the bulk of the album is pretty mundane. I can see where U.S bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd may have been influenced, but 1968 releases by Cream, Moody's, Tull, Zep etc are far superior, both in material and musicianship and would form more of a basis this side of the pond. Ok for occasional plays hence 3 stars only.
