I first watched Eros 'Live in Rome' with trepidation. From revues here. We are in our sixties! A brilliant concert, wish I could have been their. Bought a CD of his not realising it was the same sound track. Delighted that I have the best of both worlds with Eros. Have bought more of his CD's since then and have not been disappointed, only hope we see him again soon on DVD. A great entertainer. Also loved him on 'Pavarotti & Friends'. Cannot understand a word he sings but now beginning to sing along.

I strongly disagree with those giving 'Pokito a Poko' 3 or even only 2 stars. This is a fantastic album; it earns 5 stars from me just for Como la Luz. There is nothing weak about this collection; it is as accomplished and varied as Endorfinas en la Mente. Pokito a poko, Sueno y muero, Camino Interior and, of course, Como la Luz, are particular favourites. These demonstrate Chambao's myriad talents and it's great to see a band not afraid to absorb and re-construct so many musical influences. After all, music shouldn't be vacuum-packed! Along with Ojos de Brujo, Chambao are pushing out Spain's musical barriers. Long may both do so.

In the early-to-mid 1980s there was precious little chart music which had any sense of history. I loved the original Matt Bianco, with Basia and Danny White, because they were able to roll 1950s and 1960s cuban and brazillian influences together with a synth-pop new-wave attitude, on 1984's "Who's Side Are You On?". Songwriting was obviously taken seriously, and the hard edge sound of 1980s synthesisers proved a surprisingly good vehicle for delivering the cha-cha, bossa nova, rhumba and even hard swing. Then the group split, and 'Matt Bianco', under Mark Reilly, became a rather bland latin dance band, that everyone compared with the sub-optimal yuppie schmooze of Sade. Maria Toledo's hum-sung version of the main theme is so exquisite, it is worth the price of the CD alone. But there are other treasures on this disk, such as Luiz Bonfa's magical solo guitar playing on Samba de Orfeo, the hymnal A Felicidade and so on. Don't be put off by the precussive drum track that begins the album!
