This CD of Germany label Bear Family, put together the only two records of Robert Mitchum. The Capitol album "Calypso is like so! (1957) and Monument's "Robert Mitchum. This man sings" (1967). Also contain the single of 1958, "The Ballad of Thunder Road", composed by Mitchum himself and Don Raye, that reached to Top 100. The edition is wonderful with complete liner notes, photographs and discography. This man, the star of many masterpieces of cinema (The night of the Hunter, Out of the Past,River of no Return, Yakuza.....), too is and excellent singer with a warm voice, proved in two opposite styles like calypso and country. A must.

This is anincredibly fun party album. The music is Mambo and you've already heard a lot of it. 'Patricia' in the Royal Mail 'I saw this and thought of you' ad, as well as 'Guaglione' and 'Mambo No 5' from the Guinness ads. This stands on its own as a premier example of Mambo swing music.

I've been a fan of Senor coconut since he was featured on radio 5 about 18 months ago. He somehow manages to fuse serious latin beats into quite tongue in cheek songs. There's not lot to this album, especially as the last track is the same as 'Smoke on the Water' but sung in spanish but 'Beat it' must be heard to be believed I listen to this album not only to cheer me up but also to dance to. His Cha Cha Chas are bang on tempo and you could hardly fail to love this album.

This is a great album-it manages to combine the vigour of Latin American music with the instrumentalist of Irish and Scottish folk. It's probably not for purists of either form of music, but the combination works well.

By the greatest of hazards, I came across Mr W. Nayland's review of the CD titled "Astrud Gilberto's Finest Hour." In my opinion, this album is, arguably, the definite overview of the Verve recordings from Ms Astrud Gilbero, contrary to what Mr W. Nayland might say. And, no, Mr W. Nayland, this album is NOT titled "The Best Of Astrud Gilberto" either. This CD is a twenty song strong collection of Ms Astrud Gilberto's classic blend of pop, samba and jazz recordings for the Verve label. It includes really the cream of her Verve recordings, spanning the period 1963-1969 (plus one track recorded with James Last in 1986). I heard this music on myspace and instantly fell in love with it. When I read the review below, it quite saddened me and I felt this music needed to be spoken well off. It is often a shame when people believe that their opinions are the only ones that matter and everyone else may as not exist, to the level that they have to dehumanise the efforts and artistic expressions of other human beings....(artistic fascism.) There is nothing more inhumane than this view. To me, this music IS "angelic" and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I admit that it might not be for everyone. The song I assume everyone below is talking about - the one they heard on TV- is Oltre la Tempesta... what a song! It is one of the finest tenor arias I have very heard. Licitra and Alvarez have brought classical music to a new, modern audience. Hair raising songs like Maria and Fantasma D'amore are two of the best examples. Perfectly untied voices and a unique track of songs make this one of the best Tenor albums in my collection. If you are reading this and doin't own this CD... BUY IT NOW!!!

Another great CD full of popular tunes from the caribbean. It makes you feel like you are there dancing under the palm trees. If you have been on holiday to the Carribean last year or early this year, you will recognise most of the tunes as they are played on the local radio over there. All the tunes are good and lively. My favourite is the last track "Dont call my phone". WELL WORTH BUYING!
