This is Emiliana Torrini's 6th album although only two were released outside Iceland. Me and Armini really bridges the gap between them with some great pop numbers and some low key acoustic tracks too. Newer to the mix is the more rockier edge in places though and it suits her voice and style. "Big Jumps" was a great choice as a single and reminds me of summer time fun (it also reminds me of "Unemployed in Summertime" however there's absolutely genius in "Jungle Drum" which sounds like a 1960's rock anthem and will be the next single. Its very catchy. Acoustic lovers will enjoy "Bleeder", "Hold Heart" and personal favourite "Beggar's Prayer" which has a beautiful vocal section in the middle with just humming which effects ... Look, if you've given this album a poor review then stop, put on a good pair of headphones, and listen to this album properly without skipping tracks. Quite frankly this is the most moving thing I've heard for a long time.

Listen to anything remotely resembling pop music these days and you will always find a trace of the formulaic about it. If nothing else, the 21st century has refined pop music into something of a formulaic commodity. Mind you, there are some would argue Mickey Most was doing the same thing back in 1973... Santogold's debut does contain some ambitions to meet some kind of blueprint. Upon first hearing I found it utterly generic - a record in search of a hit, if you like. The sound is clean and somewhat calculated. Then after a few plays the thing reveals something of a little more substance. Abba's final studio album tends to divide opinion, but for me it was a fine way for them to finish thier active recording career together. 'One Of Us' was Abba's last major international hit and is probably the best known track here. The follow up song in the UK was 'Head Over Heels' which shocked everyone by peaking outside the UK top 20. Was it all over for Abba?. Well, in terms of major hit singles it certainly was (in the US 'When All Is Said And Done' flopped also), but this album gave us a few treats and an indication of where Benny and Bjorns musical interests were going (ie musical theatre). I have to admit that it took many listens to get into The Aliens first album "Astronomy For Dogs" but eventually the album grabs you and doesn't let you go and it turned out to be one of my top ten favourite albums. This follow up album seems to have amazingly moved up to another level (difficult, I know), the opening track "Bobby's Song" is outstanding, it's beautifully constructed and instantly likeable and sets the tone for the rest of the album, it's just so addictive! "Luna" is simply a pure, honest album with no gimmicks and no filler tracks and is sure not to disappoint.

I am not one to use the word 'MASTERPIECE' freely. This is because these days, i feel most people overuse the word 'masterpiece' and i find this to be rather irritating. You know what i mean? Too many albums, films, etc are refered to as masterpieces when they are just ok or good. This album, however is NOT ok or good. It IS a masterpiece. Firstly, let me say, i am a rock fan. I was brought up on Heavy metal and punk. I'd lived in complete ignorence of Stevie Wonder until a friend recommended this album to me. At first, as you can probably guess, i was hesitant. I'm not going to get caught in the gushing gooey Sasha trap. I've listened to the album a few times now and can't quite sum it up. There are moments of genius (aren't there always with Sasha?), but I can't help feeling that this lacks some of the imagination of Involver. It needs some breaks, more lushness, more melancholy, more something. That said, I've checked myself before it's too late.... my expectations of Sasha are probably higher than that of any other DJ. Here-in lies the problem. If anyone else had released this, I would be extremely impressed. I know Sasha is even better than this though. The mix however, still gets 4 stars because it's very pleasant on the ear and in fairness the man has evolved his sound again, like he always does.

As a life long fan this was a must buy for me. I was't too interested in the CD (as like many i've got all the tracks a few times over) it was the DVD i wanted. Infact really this should really be called 'Messages - The OMD videos' with a audio CD thrown in for free. I've now replaced the ageing VHS tape and am delighted to have been able to that. For the newbie and excellent audio and visual combination to start you on your way!

I love this album! I bought this album for 'now you're gone' and it's probably the track i have listened to least, all tracks are so bouncy and just great.
