At first I was so dubious about this, I wasnt sure I would like its 'dubby' feel or its Dancehall-Step as I was more interested in a sub-bass dubstep / grime fest. But this release has made me mature and avoid grimey angry litte brats! Also, what really blew my mind was the connection to ICE, GOD, Techno Animal and Dalek! Brilliant! Each song on this album is a winner, individual and so diverse and progressive. Considering I got into this genre via getting bored of low-end sonic doom (Sunn, Earth, Melvins)...I cant wait to get more of it! SKENG!

Listening to the original cassette version of this album used to be a guilty pleasure of mine, so I was looking forward to this reissue which includes all the bonus tracks from that cassette. However, after hearing about issues with the bonus disc, I thought I'd hold off and see whether Edsel were going to fix it. Six months later, after reading that the disc had been repressed, I thought I'd go ahead and order. Now I'm pretty sure I've got the fixed pressing of the bonus disc, as I've not noticed any glitches at the start of the "Machines Take Over" track and apart from a couple of suspiciously vinyl-like loud pops much later in the track, it's fine. More of the same from John Legend. Some stand out tracks such as p.d.a have to balance out some rather typical "samey" R&B standards. Not bad.

I first got into electronic music a while ago, and frankly couldnt have asked for a better induction. I was recomended this by a friend when I said I liked the electronic stuff on Kid A and he told me that most of it was influenced by this man. He was right, Shadow is a genius. His skill with a drum machine is matched only by his skill with a sampler and his talent for mixing, perfectly capturing an ever shifting mood with changes of tempo, time signature, key, instruments and genre. Its all captured here, like a beautifully preserved insect in a peice of amber. Jazz, soul, blues, and that ever present loaded-gun backbeat, tying every interesting sample and gorgeous melody together into an amazingly cohesive journey of beats. Anyone who LOVES this movie will love this improved soundtrack, with the tracks in the order they are played in the film. Every song will have you reminiscing the exact scene it's from.... from the opening Be my Baby with the slow-mo dancing to the ultimate goosebump moment of "The Lift" during I've Had the Time (extended version in this CD).

is good yes? yes. like good that is nice. not like good like man wiv camera. no. not like him. maybe more songs on this one. more singing like guy from coldplay but not him someone else. some piano on it. It make you happy like good weather and freinds on television. not hollyoaks like on e4 when you get holloaks then friends and you want friends but on e4 and e4+1 you get hollyoaks. how is this?

I'm not one for writing reviews but seeing as no-one has bothered to write a review for this Toots & The Maytals CD, I thought I may as well be the first. If your knowledge of reggae goes as far as Bob Marley, and that's it, then you seriously need to broaden your tastes, and as a starter I highly recommend Toots. This CD covers The Maytals career from 1966 to 1974 and all the hits are here - Monkey Man (later covered by The Specials), their brilliant debut single Bam Bam, 54-46 That's My Number and probably their most famous song Pressure Drop (later covered by The Clash). There's 20 songs on this album and I can honestly say there simply isn't a bad song on here, this album played through from start to finish sounds fantastic. Do yourself ... Read More:

When I heard depeche mode were releasing another best of album I contacted Johnny Marr the bands only surviving member so he could arrange a law suit. Johnny's lawyers had the album specially re-coated so that when the listener first plays the album they will be referred to a civil action law suit tribunal web page.

I have to agree with the reviewer "El Burrito" here. I too have been trying to understand "what all the fuss is about". I have been searching for something catchy about this album but am struggling to find it. The first track Northern Swing is a promising number however in my opinion none of the other tracks live up to it. Generally speaking I find that if an album such as 'Turntable Soul Music' has been reviewed twelve times on Amazon, eleven of which have favorable reviews that this is usually a good indicator to whether an album is worth buying or not. However in this case I'm guessing all the favorable reviews came from mates of the band or such like....?
