Being a fan of Faithless, it might lead me to being rather biased here when I say this album is simply the best album you WILL ever buy. Each song is fantastic in its own way, but I particularly like Why Go (featuring Estelle) and I Want More (the video is amazing!). Perfect for fans of slightly old-school not-too-heavy dance music such as Depeche Mode or more funky house style bands like Morcheeba perhaps. And, for under a fiver, it's an absolute bargain! You will kick yourself hard if you don't buy this album, I mean it!

This is an astonishing record! On paper the idea of a reggae cover of Dark Side Of The Moon sounds demented - but in practise it's truly fabulous. The All-Stars perform dub alchemy, conjuring roots rock out of prog rock like it was the most natural progression. Great Gig In The Sky had me sobbing at its beauty - honestly.

Any Floyd fans with a passing interest in reggae - or, alternatively, any reggae-ists with a passing interest in Pink Floyd - this is for you. Carefully treading that fine line between homage and parody, the All-Stars present a classic work of art in a new way that shines a white light into the prism of your heart. The result is a mind-bending rainbow.

I'm not so sure S-Club7 should be remembered, they were embarrassingly bad! And not even in a cute way, like The Vengaboys or Steps... They were just a bunch of chavs trying to have 5 mins of fame, this CD is definately one for the dustbin!

WOW!

....I wanted this to be the first word you read, as it was honestly the first thing i said when this arrived through my door and i tore open the envelope this morning.

I'd completely forgotten that this album, which promised to be 3CDs of 10 years of my favorite label's music, was packaged in a limited edition box set. I had seen it mentioned before I purchased it, but only when i saw it in all it's glory, did i realise what a special release this was.

After 5 minutes of admiring the slick looking box and 16 page booklet, dowsed in Finger Lickin's signature artwork, i realised i hadn't even thought to put one of the CDs on!

My excitement was mostly focused around CD3 (Future Funk) which was supposed to be full ... Read More:

The concept of travelling the world and creating an album based on various cultures is always going to be a tough thing to complete. All I can say is that Nitin Sawhney has pulled off this mountain of a project with breathtaking results.

The 15 tracks of 'Prophesy' display a highly interesting and diverse body of work, from a man with a real passion to produce something amazing.
From the uplifting opening 'sunset' Sawhney creates a wonderful soundscape through chilled out beats, guitar, Tabla drums and moving orchestral touches, it's an atmosphere followed equally by 'Nothing' string melodies conjure up amazing sci-fi vista's and rousing vocals create an ethereal world.
Acquired dreams is an early highlight and takes the tone to a deeper emotional ... Read More:

This CD is the most boring amateur music I have heard in a long while. The cheesy and predictable melodies sound like a GCSE composition recorded by a school pupil. 10 minutes of listening and I wanted to tear my hair out! A definite miss.

I first saw the Thompson Twins in 1981 or '82 (not really sure now!) after the release of their second album, "Set", and the moderate success of the "In The Name of Love" single, when the stage seemed to be overflowing with musicians. Fast forward to early 1983 (I think) and a free gig in Hitchin for the BBC's 'Live in Concert' (I had the video of the broadcast of that concert for years - and yes, you can see me!!), and that mass of band members had been reduced to just three!! And although I knew their sound was changing I was completely amazed and bowled over by the music they created that evening - songs that I would get to know really well a short while later through "Quick Step & Side Kick".

What a great album, the soundtrack of that year for me - so many great ... Read More:

219.HIStory - Past, Present and Future Book 1 by: Michael Jackson
June 19, 1995
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : HIStory - Past, Present and Future Book 1
At the time of recording this album Michael Jackson was a very angry man, the Chandler case had been going on and other people in authority were trying their best to ruin him. This was the biggest selling black artist of all time and he was living in Neverland Ranch in a purely white community, people were jealous and wanted his musical career finished.
This album was Michael's answer to them.
The songs Scream, They don't care about us, Stranger in Moscow, This time around, D.S, Money, Childhood, Tabloid Junkie and 2bad all relate to Michael's life at that time, which is why i've given this album 5 stars, this isn't his best album by a long shot but it is still a fantastic and very personal album and the people who give this a low score should sit back with headphones on and ... 220.La Revancha Del Tango by: Gotan Project
October 29, 2001
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : La Revancha Del Tango
This always reminds me of (very) expensive bars, clubs and restaurants in Istanbul and Ankara where well heeled Turks would go and, well, pose I suppose (although that's never been a problem for Turkish women). So, you get the idea - this is an album 'designed' (or even destined) to be played in plush, soulless bars and clubs. It has a trippy-tango-lounge vibe going on and I do like the use of the accordion and violins and the subtle beats and electronic under current. The first three tracks are excellent, with the highlight being the opener "Queremos Paz". It's an interesting, worthwhile and inoffensive concept and should appeal to fans of the band 'Pink Martini' who, I would suggest, are non too distant cousins of Gotan Project. I'd recommend it, but don't expect to be totally blown ... Read More:
