For too long disco compilations have focused solely on rehashing the same classics over and over again.

Well, this collection does it differently: it puts the fun back into disco by picking out all the tunes that you have long forgotten about, all those you remember as being vaguely embarrassing, and then sprinkles in a strong selection of the classics for those who have never bought a disco collection before. It'll keep you on the dance floor and put a huge smile on your face.

As the icing on the cake, it unearths the Space Disco genre! Of course, Spacer has long been recognised as a classic disco song, being output from The Chic Organisation, but you can't fail to smile (and more importantly dance) when you hear ... Read More:

Ordered this directly from the distributor (hence why I have it before the UK release date), and it truly is a brilliant set to have. The artwork is top-notch (no surprise, coming from artist Jhonen Vasquez), it includes all of the art he did for the album (including the cover of the deluxe version) in high resolution quality and is worth buying just for this reason alone.

The album itself is pretty good, though no-where near as good as YRTA, FGWSSS or Tight, but passable, despite a few throwaway tracks. The overall arrangement seems a lot better as well, with a reworked track listing spread across two Vinyl disks.

The main complaint I have is how, unfortunately the vinyl is treated as a second-hand product by the producers ... Read More:

Bought this for my six year old´s birthday and she loves it. The cd was fab at her party and the dvd of the dance moves has kept her amused for hours! She is getting quite good at the dances now - her dad still needs to practice though! Really good value for money.

there are twelve fantastic songs here that are played over and over again and are always fun to listen to.
Scissor sisters are a fantastic band to listen to and their songs are amazing!!!!
this album i find is a step up from their first album(which i also love)and the music on each track shows a range of artistic style that really shows off their fantastic talent.
I Dont feel like dancin' is already a classic track,i love She's My Man with a fun beat and catchy lyrics,I Cant Decide is also fun and can be heard in the Doctor Who series three finale-The Last Of The Timelords.
Land of a thousand words has to be my favourite song by the band....why wasnt this used for Casino Royale????
love the album
YOU NEED IT IF YOU LOVE MUSIC!!!

You could play a fully credible disco night armed with nothing more than these five cds. If a definitive chart was made of the 500 top tunes from the dance decade of 1975-1984 this set would claim an absolute minimum of 50 places.
One ill informed reviewer knocks legenary weekender tunes on CD3 as fillers and bemoans the lack of Abba, Bee Gees and Dexy's Midnight Runners. It's precisely that absence which makes this such a credible set. I already owned perhaps 80 or 90 of these tracks but the purchase was well worth it for Janice Macclain's Smack Dab in the Middle and then again for the huge grin that spread across my face when I heard Wikka Wrap again for the first time in twenty years.
If you have only a few disco tracks in your collection then my advice is BUY THIS ... Read More:

Terrific energy, honesty, depth and meaning.
Will not appeal to those who expect more of the same (with respect to the signature track) or who are threatened by musical freedom of expression, which is evident here in many eclectic forms.

Like a teen-angst ridden goth who's just discovered the link between sex and death, William Control clearly thinks he's onto something original, meaningful and dangerous. In a lift from the Johnny Depp film, 'The Libertine', he starts off saying 'You will not like me'. He's right, but not for the reasons he'd like to think.
The music, while catchy enough, is generic gothic electronica, and dated at that.
But it's the lyrics, sung in an oh-so-earnest way, that are the biggest flaw. 'I'm on a suicide mission to die'. 'I'm willing death come please call my name'. Oh dear oh dear. Someone's trying a little too hard and taking themselves far too seriously.
With a touch of humour, or at least a touch of subtlety, this could have been an interesting album.
As it is though, ... Read More:

Long-time darlings of New York's ultra-hip, art-conscious underground music scene, Gang Gang Dance look braced to make a wider breakthrough with their new album `Saint Dymphna`, released in the UK on Warp. Like their contemporaries Out Hud, Gang Gang Dance makes a hybrid of post-rock and electro, punk and dance. But while Out Hud and particularly their sister act !!! (chk chk chk) often veer towards house and disco, Saint Dymphna is mostly scary, volatile stuff. While there are certainly parallels with LCD Soundsystem, GGD's take on dance-punk has less cross-over appeal and more in common with the darker acts on the DFA roster such as Black Dice and The Juan McLean. Despite the gorgeous Kate Bush-remixed-on-a ZX-Spectrum (if I may) of `House Jam', Saint Dymphna is surprisingly un-dancefloor-friendly - sonically ... Read More:

Amazon, for some reason, has suggested to me that I might want to buy this.

Ah no.

If you are really desperate to hear tubular bells, can I suggest a good recording of Parsifal? It has the virtue of being, if only subjectively, shorter.

Im 13 years old and im usually into rockish type music but after hearing one Nouvelle Vague song i fell in love with them. I heard the cover of "Ever fall in love" (first sung by the buzzcocks) on tv and i thought it was great so i decided to buy their newest album. The re sings are amazing and the easy flowing mood is great when your trying to relax. I think that anybody could enjoy this album and the great voice of the Nouvelle Vague singers. The instuments are played fantastically and ever though i paid more on the high street than i could have on amazon i feel that it was well worth my money. Even the shops clerks seemed enthusiastic with my choice and recommended other songs and albums by Nouvelle Vague which now i also love. Nouvelle Vague took old songs and changed them into a whole new experience that todays music ... Read More:
