Mr Scruff (known as Andy Carthy to his mum) is a multi talented DJ producer who is very difficult to pigeon hole (good the way I like it) - his productions on Keep It Unreal are dreamy and very funky, with crazy samples from children's TV of the 50s and 60s. The finest moment on here for me is Midnight Feast with it's delightful xylophone and jazzy feel, this is a good one for when you want to drift to sleep, and could probably be fun if you're a DJ cutting between tracks - or for scratchin'. Another favourite of mine is Get A Move On, with the sample of an old country record - it's bluesy yet jazz based melody is just fun and can get anyone dancing like a loon. ...of Mark Doyle..there has been little consistency since he set up Fierce..I find this compilation frustrating..the first is named Poolside Chill, whilst undoubtedly a fine collection of songs more for after club relaxing or cosying by fireside after day on slopes etc, doesn't conjure images of the White Isle or sunny climes..The 2nd CD is a collection re-hashed oldies and some cheesey efforts where MD has let the standard slip considerably..The 3rd is very electro and flows quite well, however a few oldies in there as well..I think the only people that will get this, are the genuine and regular visitors to Es Vive and Base Bar..In my view HK are getting all the decent tunes and mixes at the moment, but for me it's swings and roundabouts when HK put ... I personally think this album is one of the seminal albums that set the tone for the 80's, nobody said what that decade had to say better than INXS's brand of enthusiastic Rock Pop fusion, With Kick INXS are at the zenith of their powers, every song is a work of quality and Michael Hutchence great voice compliments the style of the music perfectly, INXS achieved a sense of identity with this album, Like Queen you could tell an INXS song was going to be an INXS song just with the first few notes, songs like New Sensation, Need you tonight and Devil Inside are some of the most memorable hits in history and the albums packed with other great tracks like Calling all Nations and Kick, Trust me, this is a stunning album, the 80's was the decade style forgot ... I remember the first time I met someone else who also knew this album. That was about 20 years ago in France, and the bloke was a Punk bloke with the most extreme look and a pronounced taste for very hardcore music. For some reason he was at my place for a party and at some point I played this album. That certainly got his attention as he already knew and loved this album and we struck a lasting immediate friendship there and then. I think this is the moct important thing about this album. It transcends the closed up Dub world to a larger experimental world of open minded people. you miss something by buying a best of. not the best songs mind you but the context and the urgency behind them. but what the hey - bj is about energy, clever lyrics and dancing. this collection will get you off your sofa. be warned!

I'm a big fan of the Pussycat Dolls...when I saw a video of their new song, I think they're very amazing my favourite is Nicole. She's the best and I like all of them too! This song makes me dance on my bed for five minutes and I really enjoy this tune! 'When I Grow Up'is a best song for 2008...very good when I'm not going out on Fridays and maybe if I'm goin for a jog, probably. :) Best song for 2008...if you are a fan of them...buy it! :D

I bought this as a huge fan of global underground, certain it would be of the usual high standard. Listening to CD 1 on the way home in the car, I was hugely disappointed. The tracks seemed to signal a backward step to the party house of the late 90's, with plenty of crowd pleasing build ups and cheesy vocal lines: not the chunky, tough tunes I was expecting. I was wondering what GU were playing at. Luckily, I persevered with CD2, an altogether different flavour. This kicks off with a few meaty tracks such as the dark 'the beauty' by Sven Vath, '21st century ketchup' by Steve Lawler and the rolling 'I can't live without chocolate' by the much lauded french producer 'The Last Atlant'. As with all who have felt compelled to add their thoughts on this amazing double CD, I too find it timeless and one of those rare collections you will never get tired of. We often drive upto Wales (usually leave around 8pm and get to mid Ceredigian around midnight) and this collection, specially Part 1, is reserved for the last hour or so....nothing like rolling through the night to this sound :) Hope everyone gets to experience these sounds....thanks to the Bear for recommending it :)
