This has got to be one of the most played cd's in my collection. If you like either mos or talib then you NEED this cd, because quite simply you will wonder how you ever lived without it. I think it's quite difficult to get hold of at the moment but well worth the effort, funky, raw and cutting edge even now this is a seminal album by two unsung masters of true hip-hop. I'm not gonna bang on or give a track by track synopsis of this album, i could never do it justice, you just need to listen.

THIS ALBUM IS FLAWESS AND PHENOMENAL ITS A DAMN SHAME THAT HE DIED SO YOUNG CUZ HE WAS ON HIS 2 BEING THE BEST RAPPER NO DOUBT.THIS ALBUM IS VERY DARK, RAW & HARDCORE I LOVE IT. BUT IN MY OPINION THE LATE GREAT BIG L IS THA BEST.

I bought this album because I like both the respective artistes involved. The prospect of a brilliant fusion of rap and metal is there..but it just does not gel very well in practice! They don't seem to meet each other on what should be common ground- crazy vocal sound bites from Patton should be looped ad infinitum over heavy beats, scratches and screaming guitars! But the music is pedestrian, vocals trite, and samples from films poorly chosen! Guess i'll just have to live with my imaginary version of this album. If only there was a remix album to save the venture..

tunes baby yeah? everyone raves about the debut of these cheeky chaps but the true beastie gems are "check you head" and "ill communication". this album is top of the drawer. i love the way they get the old school sound by recording the album live. the sound of the congas really rocks out. the tops tracks are definatly: 1: so whatcha want? 2: stand together 3: professor booty buy this now man, itll rock your world like a giant pebble

Now i know lots of people hate on this because of the rock influence, but i think it works really well! Mos Def can flow brilliantly over rock influenced beats! But the album also shows his skills on true, traditional hip hop songs! The lyrics are all very intelligent and Mos Def uses great rhyming techniques, plenty of multi's and some pretty deep songs are on here also! If you like blues i would get this as well, as there's one or two Blues songs on here with some terrific guitar, personally i would have liked Mos Def to rap on these songs, but he sings on them instead! If you're just getting into Mos Def, get this, but if you're a hardcore fan you may be a bit surprised with what you find, but it's still great! For fans of Talib ... Read More:
