Yep, he's done it again. Another fantastic album from Ja that shows he still a big player when it comes to rap pop and 'gangster rap'. Though his vocals may be a bit harsh for some peoples taste, 'Put It On Me' and 'Between me and you' should secure the promise of many album sales!

I'm not sure what the hype is about... although this album has some good tracks (Down and One Day I smile being among my favourites), it is often over produced and at points sounds ridiculously cheesy. as for Juelz himself, he has no personality, his rhymes are basic and flawed, there is no intellectual depth, he rhymes the same words and sentences over and over again, and he doesn't even have a particularily distinctive voice to set him apart from the rest. The guest spots arn't too hot, and it's just hard to take it seriously as an album... Although he's done more and developed nowdays with back liked cooked crack, this album just doesn't cut it... theres no skill or talent, nothing that stands out, he could've ... Read More:

but then that isn't really saying a lot is it? 50 run out of things to say after 'Get Rich or Die Tryin' so now we have to hear about how he blows his undeserved wealth. Those lamenting the death of hip-hop should dig a little deeper, it's still alive and kicking, just dont expect it from the g-unit camp.

Oh my goodnes!!!

I saw the track listings and saw one song that made me get the CD: Hey DJ. I had wanted to get that song since 1984. I then looked at the other tracks and knew that this was the one CD I would be proud to have in the collection.

This CD really takes me back to my childhood days, when just about everything that was on the radio was hot. That includes the Pop and Soft Rock that was coming over from the UK and everywhere else in the world. Breakdancing was "in" and boy, was it fun to watch. In fact, there was a guy in my elemetary school class by the name of Maurice Hatter. Man, this guy could "break"! He did the Pop-Lock, Moonwalk, Helecopter, and Robot all the time!! He was so good that he was easily voted ... Read More:

Before Pharoahe Monch and Prince Po went their separate ways to pursue solo carreers, they made some of the finest, purest hip hop of the early 90's - the golden age of hip hop! This was the first album they put out through Hollywood Records.

While some of the tunes have dated a little on the production side, most of them still hold up, especially when compared the weak, keyboard-demo style production of modern rap.

The sampling here is beautiful - Herbie Hancock, SOUL, Earth Wind & Fire, George Benson, Skull Snaps, Bob James, Weather Report, Richard Pryor - and as emcees both of them are second to none. If you're looking for some true school hip hop that you may have missed, check this out now. You'll be pleased you did!

The Fugees unfortunatly will most likely never make another album again, and if you listen to this album you really do see how much of a pitty this fact is.

The album is the fugees at their best. Opening with with an excellent combination of "Fu Gee la", "No woman no cry", and "Ready or not", the mood is set brilliantly. Moving onto "Killing me softly" and a few lesser known hits, the alubm progresses with style and finess.

After getting through the groups main tracks, we move onto some excellent remixs. Now, they're not remixes in the modern dance sense. They are true remasters, which sound excellent. A personal favorite is "A change is going to come", an emotive piece about changing times and aspirations for equality.

This review is basically to serve as a reminder/notice to those that havent yet heard this album. This album is one of a kind, to think of the time that it came out, Jeru was trully ahead of his time. everytime i listened to this, i cannot get over his witty lirics and intelligent subject matter. He is very street wise/well learned etc one way or another as you can tell from his lyrical content, he has some serious punchlines that will keep you nodding with excitement. And as far as the beats are concerned, one word, primo. Says it all, this is a deadly combination as jeru and primo complement one another. This album has some classic tracks on it and to mention just one 'playin your self', go on youtube and listen to it. If you love hip hop in its rawest ... Read More:
