When I first stumbled across this album, back when I was about 10, I took it back to the shops a week later. I had heard 'Sabotage' and thought I'd try it, but it sounded like a mess.

About two years later, after slowly purchasing other Beastie Boys releases and beginning to appreciate different syles of music as a whole, I picked it up again. I began to get it a little bit more with each listen, until it became arguably my favorite album of all time up to this present day.

I wrote a review in 2003, but thought I'd right another one as that particular one doesn't do this amazing record justice. So to the record...'Sure Shot' IS hip hop. You will not find a more straight up hip hop cut on any album by anyone, especially ... Read More:

The legend of Tupac Shakur has only grown since his death, not least due to how suprisingly prolific he is from beyond the grave. With the West Coast practically ruling gangsta rap in the early nineties, it says something for Biggie Smalls a.k.a. Notorious BIG that he almost single-handedly shifted attention back onto the East Coast in 1994, and that with only two proper albums his legacy measures up to Tupac's. Indeed, many still consider him to be the greatest to ever pick up the mic, and this album is the majority of the reasoning behind that stance.

Ready To Die, rather than a conventional gangsta album, is a conceptual album about the rise and fall of a hustler and gangsta, played, of course, by Notorious BIG himself. It's gritty, ... Read More:

This is Kanye's fifth album, there were two freshman adjustments and the two proper studio albums, and it is one of the best. The live performances are brilliant. Kanyes voice may be simmalar to how he is on the albums, but the orchestra is an excellent addition to the songs.
Kanye west is the future of hip hop. All of these songs are brilliant. The best tracks are propbably touch the sky and through the wire. Although only thirteen tracks long this album definately impresses. Gold Digger shouldn't really be on here but still it is an excellent song.
You have to get this as Kanye is an excellent performer judging by this and his Brits performance, was that hot ao what? I haven't seen him live yet but am hoping to when he next comes to England.

For me, this is Tribe's masterpiece... an album of such pure quality that is dazzles to this day. In fact, in comparison to the bulk of today's heavily marketed, over-produced, incoherent Hip Hop albums, it deserves a 6th star. It's takes the form of a trip through after-hours New York, with a computerised voice as your tour guide. The basslines on this album are amazing, and perhaps this album should have been called the Low End Theory Part 2, as ATCQ revisit the formula of samples and snares. The music influences as always, veer from Jazz to Soul, but always remain resolutely Hip Hop and resolutely fresh. There aren't a plethora of guest spots by the latest 'Hot' rappers, just a verse from Large Professor and a chorus from Busta Rhymes (from when he was A Leader ... Read More:

I didn't pick this album up until this year (2008) as I'm not normally into this kind of hip hop. I mainly listen to things like Talib Kweli, The Roots and other underground/intelligent stuff.

But I have to say I was surprised by this album, yes 50 raps about the stuff everyone else has said, but he does it in quite an intelligent way and over some dope beats. There are a number of standout tracks and this album is definitely worth listening to.

Just don't expect it to be A Tribe Called Quest, 'cos it definitely isn't. But if you take it for what it is you will enjoy it, and it's great for the car!

This album proved to me that Nas was, is, and always will be a cut above most other artists (in the entire music scene).

At the time in their careers where most rappers are either contemplating retirement to enjoy their lives with the proceeds of mediocre lyricism, or pushing half-hearted efforts out to bump up their bank balances and add another plaque to the wall, Nas gives us this classic. From the long list of quality albums he's made, this one stands up near the top, only being bettered by Illmatic. The lyricism is once again flawless, educational and not material-obsessed and misogynistic like other hip-hop artists. Heaven, Made You Look, Get Down: brilliant tracks, and the beats are fantastic as well, which is something Nas albums aren't usually known for. ... Read More:

Being a HUGE G-unit fan i thought i'd write a review.

This is a strong hard album, highlights include -track no 2,piano man,50's moving keys!! good vocals from Yayo, slick and smooth. Also Rider pt 2,is excellent, including vocals from the now (dearly missed) Young buck. Also track 6,you so tough is great.
Basicly if you liked beg for mercy you'll enjoy this.Is it as good as that album?,well thats a toughy, cos every track on beg was sick,if i had to choose it'd prolly be beg for mercy that came out on top.But this is stil defo worth a purchase.

peace.
