Over the years Andrew Lloyd Webber has made many musicals, some more successful and appealing to the public than the others. Most people will, however, agree that "Evita" remains one of his most satisfying works to this date. Numerous reasons confirm this statement. Just like in its predecessor "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Evita" is almost entirely sung-through; the lyrics are witty and appropriate; the subject matter is again a personality larger-than-life who rises from obscurity and dies at the peak of its fame, thus becoming a legend; the score is captivating and appealing to the listener, at home or in the theatre. A CD that has so much beauty it moves you from beginning to end. His voice portrays so much emotion that you don't just appreciate the sound, you feel every note that he sings. There are some CDs that are simply labelled "mood music", and this for me is one that I file under such a category. Every time I listen it lifts me and transports me to places only I can go to. Somewhere that escapes the modern world. The choice of arias is perfect. Many of which I was unfamiliar with. However, I have since introduced this CD to a number of people, many who listen to an entirely different genre of music; nearly all have been captivated by it. All I can say is buy it and soak up the rich fare on offer.

An EXCELLENT album - the sound quality is astounding! the cd is a big improvement in sound quality compared to vinyl (for a change!). My favourite track, ANNE OF CLEVES, is a masterpiece. Crystal clear recording, Rick's keyboards and Alan White's drums come literally crashing out of the speakers, definitely one to get you moving! In fact this whole album would rank alongside any Yes album. Very highly recommended, an essential addition for any Yes/Classical/Prog Rock fan.

This collection of the Carpenters' love songs is excellent for anyone who loves any type of music. Possibly the only band who can count both Sonic Youth and members of Steps as their fans, their perfomances on every song are second to none. The more upbeat songs, such as "Close To You" and "Top Of The World" are pleasant enough, but in my opinion, it is on the more angst-ridden songs where they excell. Like it says in "All You Get From Love Is A love Song", 'the best love songs are written with a broken heart'. "Rainy Days and Mondays", "Superstar" and "This Masquerade" are all perfect, and my personal favourite, "A Song For You", is the ultimate song that sums up all of the emotions which love encompasses. I live in Australia, and have just found through browsing websites the Doris Day christmas album on cd, and am so overcome with emotion as I feel I have just found the most amazing treasure. I have the original recorded album, which was handed down to me from my Father, I am 43 years old and the album is still in perfect condition, even though it is lovingly pulled out every christmas and played non stop while I do my christmas cooking....I place this album at the top of the list of must have christmas music to own....Doris Day has the most smoothest voices and there has never been another singer who can match her voice or make a song feel so real it brings you out in goosebumps....

An engaging introduction into the compelling career of the man who, in his own lifetime, was regarded as a French national institution: Serge Gainsbourg. This compilation provides a broad and chronological career overview of his career; it begins in 1958 with the jazzy strains of 'Le Poinconneur Des Lillas and concludes, 22 tracks and 32 years later, with his gentle, unhurried duet with Catherine Deneuve 'Dieu Fumeur De Havanes' from 1980. Crammed in between are three decades worth of tracks in a multitude of musical styles, including: pop, jazz, rock, reggae and disco. Initials SG shows that Gainsbourg, at his best, had poise ('Initials BB) and passion (UK No.1 'Je T'Aime Moi Non Plus') in equal measures.

Eva's voice was unique - how very sad that the only video in existence of her singing is some amatuer footage taken at Blues Alley - where some of these tracks were recorded. If you can listen to "Autumn Leaves" without a lump in your throat - then you have no soul my friend.

The most beutifull, emotional music score ever written! This amazing music score has it all, it is extremely moving and powerfull, and the mood suits the film perfectly. The actual film is excellent but there's no doubt that the movie would not be as good without Morricone's masterpiece. How it never won an oscar for Original Music Score i'll never know. 10/10 !!
