This CD is excellent quality for its budget price; it is very calming and creates a tranquil ambience to help you get off to sleep. Each track is pleasing and relaxing, and helps me get back to sleep again quickly when waking through the night.

No surprises here, of course -- Enya didn't achieve new age superstardom by challenging anyone's expectations. This album is every bit as hushed, lovely, and soulless as everything else she's ever done; like a perfect angel food cake, it's sweet, soft, and utterly lacking in nutritive substance. There's nothing the matter with angel food cake, of course, and there's also nothing really the matter with The Memory of Trees, though its Druidic theme does smell awfully trendy (nothing was quite so hip as neopaganism in 1995), and it steers so strictly the same melodic and textural course she's been following throughout her solo career that you're tempted to wonder why anyone would want to spend the money on what amounts to a complete rehash of her ... I think this is a very welcome release. Einaudi is a composer, so therefore he should be flattered and expect his works to be recorded. Jeremy Limb is a very talented pianist who has also recorded for Naxos.

I was rather disappointed, there wasn't the clarity in his vioice, and I thought including Cerys Matthews a BIG mistake, she's terrible! One good thing with Aled is being able to hear every word, and as usual there is sincerity. I couldn't shake the feeling that his voice seemed to be showing signs of strain, was this caused by his apparently singing in a lower key? He has such a strong personality, I hate having to be critical. I certainly don't endorse Susie's review, especially as I've listened to this CD several times now. Betty.

I'm surprised this has got such superb reviews and bought it on the strength of these. I've previously bought Messages Personnels and Comment Te Dire Adieu which have some of the tracks from this album and whilst they're still good on this album, I find them much harsher recordings of the songs. If I'd heard this album first, perhaps I'd have given it 4 or 5 stars too, but having listened to the other recordings of these tracks, I haven't ended up listening to this album beyond the first few attempts. I wouldnn't give it less than 3 stars as it's still a good album, just a disappointing recording of the songs. If you're considering buying this, it may be worth comparing tracks from the other albums in somewhere like HMV where you can hear ... Read More:

i wanted a compilation that contained a bit of eveything, well this certainly does. it has eveything from the well known songs to the less well known and even speeches that were headline news of the day. it made me think what it must of been like during those terrible years of war for the soldiers and for those left behind to cope. i would thoroughly recommend buying this, it made my day listening to this wonderful war time music which we dont seem to get these days, how sad.

Weve had the stage shows, the cole porter tracky tribute and now an album of contemporay recordings which barrowboy ruins entirely. Please enough of this crash pop vocal talent. If John was a contestant ona singing show he would be eliminated if he presented this tacky and again, useless produced album of cringeworthy songs.

Christmas with Mario lanza isn't just songs you'll listen to at Christmas Time. Yes there are Christmas Carol's such as Joy to the World, Silent Night, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen and O Holy Night which reflect the true meaning of Christmas. However, the tracks I'll Walk with God and Guardian Angels, whilst on a Christmas album will be played at anytime during the year! The song I'll walk with God was written for the film The Student Prince and is closely associated with Mario Lanza. As is Guardian Angels which is really an evening prayer. Harpo Marx, of the famous Marx Brothers, set Gerda Beilenson's lyrics to music. This was my Mothers favourite Christmas album, and, I've bought this as an early Christmas present for my Father. Finally, a CD I can drift off to sleep with! I've tried quite a few but they didn't help slow down my stressed out brain at night as this one does. The beautiful melodies on this CD have a lovely calming effect on my poor head sending me off to sleep feeling relaxed and happy. No jarring instruments and nothing too deep and moody, just gently played, lighthearted, tranquil melodies - works a treat!
