Russell Watson is not an opera singer but a pop singer who for some reason has made a little talent go a long way and has been quite successful here in the in the uk, due to serval TV shows.If you want to listen to a real tenor try Domingo or good old Pavarotti now these men can sing and have been in many opera's.

Antonio Carlos Jobim goes down with Lennon/McCartney, Gershwin, Amstrong as one of the most influential songwriter/stylists of the 20th century. To judge the album on its own merits is one thing. Getz turns in small but perfectly formed solos. Astrid Gilberto's voice is ravishing, complementing husband Joao's voice with that incredibly restrained vulnerability that is the essence of Bossa. It is an album of incredible tenderness and instrospection. The studio atmosphere is very intimate with an almost homespun quality. For me its a five star album in its own right. This is a distillation of an earlier 3-CD set from Avid, about which I wrote a rave review at the time. It's a fascinating compilation, which makes up a chronological journey through Al's recording career. If you were lucky enough to buy the earlier set then there's nothing here that wasn't issued earlier, but if you missed out then grab this now. It's the ideal introduction to the supreme singer, and excellent value for money.

So many great songs on one CD. I'm sure everyone must know at least one Louis Prima song (even if they don't know it!) Just A Gigolo, Buona Sera, Jump, Jive, an' Wail, Whistle Stop, The Music Goes Round and Round!! Don't expect to sit down and listen to this one, you can't help but want to dance. Brilliant!

Long before Cilla Black became the queen of Saturday night TV with legendary shows such as "Blind Date" and "Surprise Surprise", she was a pop star with many hit singles, albums and EPs to her name. Her voice is pure magic, jet black and just amazing, it's no wonder then that many of her songs shot up into the top ten in the UK from 1963 to 1974. She even had a couple of no.1 hits, the incrediable "Anyone Who Had A Heart" and "You're My World". This great, super value compilation album is a re-issue of Cilla's top 30 greatest hits LP from 1968 with 11 great bonus tracks added. All her main hits are here and the bonus songs are a must!, my favorites being the beautiful "He Was A Writer", "I Believe" and "It's Now". All in all, this is one great album ... Read More:

I was given this album as a Christmas present, and I can only say it's one of the best presents I've ever received! Lots of old favourites are here, including 'Sosban fach' and of course 'Land of my Fathers'. But for me the highlights are a truly rousing rendering of 'Men of Harlech' (enough to make even an army of the dead want to rise and fight!)and Bryn's impassioned delivery of one of the greatest of hymns, 'Cwm Rhondda (Bread of Heaven)'. Even if one is not religious (and I am not), this must surely move all who hear it - it had me in tears. It comes from the guts, and it goes straight to the guts. Terrific stuff!
