The other cd from Castle/Pulse ,not many hits but they were fewer as time went on,a good variety of less well known tracks,but not vintage.

I agree with all that the other reviewers say but want to add that the guiding (he'll love the pun) light behind the whole concept is my friend Clive Lever. Clive is blind and when we met 18 years ago was working as a computer programmer, with the help of the charity he supports, the British Computer Association of the Blind. A great fan of Les, it was a stroke of brilliance to enlist his aid and compile this great CD. Clive's a very talented musician too, and his own compositions are great especially his send-ups (poor Michael Jackson would not be amused!) and nobody can make me howl with laughter like Clive - so much so that when we worked together our boss once had to ask us to tone it down as we could be heard all along the corridor. ... This album once again displays Thompson's mastery of styles to great effect, whilst the looser production represents a break with the albums that came before. For example, there is beautiful harmonica on Cooksferry Queen and excellent acoustic guitar playing on Sights And Sounds Of London. One of the highlights is the poetic masterpiece Walking The Long Miles Home. Uninhabited Man, Hard On Me and Bathsheba Smiles are powerful and intense rock songs about loss and regret. This is a superb album of memorable songs that match the best tracks on Amnesia and Rumor And Sigh. As to be expected, his guitar playing is brilliant throughout. Mock Tudor is right up there with Thompsn's best work of the last ten years.

I am glad I can agree with KEVIN21549 who was critical of my review of a Coltrane recording, and thinks that any opinion different from his is 'quite wrong'! This is one of many excellent John Renbourn records, and it remains my favourite of his many contributions to the acoustic guitar repertory. Any who enjoy this may find it rewarding to listen to THE BLACK BALLOON which finds Renbourn in equally fine form.

"Hero and Heroine" is considered by most fans to be the best album produced by the Strawbs. Certainly this album is a concerted group effort: keyboard player John Hawken provides the evocative "Heroine's Theme" that begins the opening "Autumn" suite, bassist Chas. Cronk teams with Cousins on "Midnight Sun," and while guitarist Dave Lambert's "Just Love" is the track that least fits the overall theme of the album, his "Hero's Theme" serves as a nice closing counterpart to the moody opening. Of course the prime tracks are those composed by Cousins, exemplified by the dramatic title track that may well surpass ""Down by the Sea" as the group's best work (pay attention to not just Hawken's organ work but what he does on the harpsichord) and the equally frenetic ... I bought this CD without hearing it before. I loved the film and wasn't disapointed with the soundstrack. It is mellow and romantic - one of those CDs you put on and it's over before you realise you were listening. That, to me, is the sign of the perfect easy listening, mellow, chillout albulm. There are 4-5 really cool tracks and whatever your mood, the music is great. Deffinitely worth the money.
