Del Tha Funkee Homosapien is a west coast rapper - who happens to be a relative of NWA man - Ice Cube. So when you look at the credits; it's no shock to find Del asked him to do a few tracks for him. Anyway, this is a compilation of Del's best from his old record label Elektra (he's now on Hieroglyphics, with the rest of his posse). This mainly covers his early years from 1991-1994, as it says "hard to find 12" records", in the hard-to-read sleeve notes.

In my opinion, this is Del's first stage of two stages - his early raps with the likes of Ice Cube, before he went to retire. The second wave for me was when Del did Future Development and Both Sides of the Brain, but this CD doesn't cover those records, so I don't think this ... Read More:

103.Ki Oku by: DJ Krush, Toshinori Kondo

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : Ki Oku
My first jazz record, oddly enough. So chilled that it almost regresses into a slow pulse as the album flatlines right before your eyes, the heart no longer beating; Kondo's electronically tweaked, echoed trumpets blazing out midnight melodies over Krushed grooves. It doesn't vary, dart, but I dig the mood of it, and the Bob Marley cover is so amazingly done when you consider the absurdity of the situation. For glistening Tokyo streets.

105.Shinso: The Message in Depth by: DJ Krush

Music : Shinso: The Message in Depth
I purchased this album, expecting some of the blissfull trip-hop chillin beats that Dj krush has so perfected (Dig this vibe, Song 1)And I liked the idea of "an in depth message" to accompany his mind blowingly soulful tunes.
However, this album is very untypical of Dj krush. Dity beats, off-key bassslines, robotic melodies and cryptic, aggressive lyrics make this album more of a techno head-fuck than the soundtrack to a chillout session, that I was expecting.
It would however appeal to some people - think 'Intergalactic' by the Beatie Boys except much more rushed at the production stage. The highlight is the rap in Japanese-(track 2)a very interesting language, which sounds surprisingly good in the form of a rap.
It seems as though ... Read More:

I waited very patiently till this fantastic EP arrived and it was well worth it aswell. DPA has flows fantasticaly from a harder mood in to a somber mood then back again showing MR Len's (aka space ghost) mixing ability. Simian Drugs again shows great rhyming abilty also with a superb base line that really rocks the house, ending with scratching that really does sound like a monkey! There are also Cannibal ox's 2 first singles which are just as good, also featuring a instrumental by RJD2. This is an essential purchase for all hiphop fans, and is well worth ther money

I loved, and I mean LOVED the original Octagynacologist beyond reasonable bounds. I played it so much that I wore it out. That was the original, in the the clear case with the green cardboard sleeve (mid 90's)

Now then the new release, with the skeleton on the front, to my ears is chronic (not the Dr. Dre sort either!), it has no flow, no charisma, no life. It's basically ruined the whole concept of the album. It's almost as bad as messing with the running order of Deltron 3030, or even worse, the Dark Side of The Moon, or Orbital's Brown Album. I'm gutted that it was done, even though many of the titles remain the same.

Even utterly spoilt, the album still gets five out of five, due to the fact that the original album ... Read More:
