Music : Bricolage [VINYL]

This is one of the most fascinating, absorbing and amazing records ever made in my opinion. Perhaps I'll comment more fully in due course, but for now, I'll just say that if you're considering buying this, go ahead! I can't imagine anyone who's interested in electronic music being anything other than delighted with their purchase!

Music : Both Sides of the Brain [VINYL]
"...not some phoney phranchise". On his first proper album since being dumped by Elektra, tha funkee homosapien demonstrates both his incredible flow and his growing confidence as a musician. Revelling in his new-found independence, he steps up the war those who are 'fake as f**k', deriding them for the lack of originality, and the contrast between those he rails against and Del's ability to rip it up on the mic is very evident. Yet going it alone seems to have increased his confidence, for he now produces the album, with a little help on six of the tracks, and the increased responsibility has led to him using more than just tape loops as his backing music. The meld of funked up jazz with his lyrical prowess has created ... Read More:

Music : Tragic Epilogue [CASSETTE]
if you're looking for the next level in hiphop/rap - or just interested in any music that's being made right out on the edge, pushing the boundaries, this is for you.

Two years on this is still without doubt the most incredible and visionary hiphop album yet produced - the rhymes are pure abstract poetry, but unlike say, Clouddead, they make sense - it's not intentionally obscure, just extremely intelligent lyrics. They conjure up all sorts of images like the best poetry should, and the interplay between the music and wordplay is second to none...

this is the future of hiphop...
"application of technique shall... constantly expand"

Kool keith is a founder of the underground hip hop scene and has always been a favourite of mine. However on this album he is suprisingly average, as the review above mentions that he is rapping without no alter ego so this album has no concept behind it, and therefore lacks the atmosphere and feeling of his other albums. However stand out tunes include Operation Extortion and I don't believe you. Fans of Keith will still enjoy this, if your new to Kool Keith check out Dr Octagon or listen to one of the many Ultramagnetic Mcs Albums first. Otherwise Keith is still a innovator offering something that many MCs can't.
