this album is the best the herbaliser has offered me to date, i like every track on it, some more than others, but still it plays from start to finish quite happily , no skipping.

The first thing I'll say to make things easy for anyone who bought Mind Over Matter and liked it is that you'll like this even more. As at heart it is more of the same, same type of lyrics, same type of beats. A problem comes when you find it is almost too similar and feel like you wouldn't know which was released first as they havn't made anything to catch up with the times. But I like it anyway.

But now for anyone who hasn't heard Mind Over Matter. Basically if you like underground hip hop then you will like this, which provides a sort of cross between Binary Star and Jedi Mind Tricks and adding in the occasional Drum & Bass. 188.Ki Oku by: DJ Krush, Toshinori Kondo

My first jazz record, oddly enough. So chilled that it almost regresses into a slow pulse as the album flatlines right before your eyes, the heart no longer beating; Kondo's electronically tweaked, echoed trumpets blazing out midnight melodies over Krushed grooves. It doesn't vary, dart, but I dig the mood of it, and the Bob Marley cover is so amazingly done when you consider the absurdity of the situation. For glistening Tokyo streets.

"...not some phoney phranchise". On his first proper album since being dumped by Elektra, tha funkee homosapien demonstrates both his incredible flow and his growing confidence as a musician. Revelling in his new-found independence, he steps up the war those who are 'fake as f**k', deriding them for the lack of originality, and the contrast between those he rails against and Del's ability to rip it up on the mic is very evident. Yet going it alone seems to have increased his confidence, for he now produces the album, with a little help on six of the tracks, and the increased responsibility has led to him using more than just tape loops as his backing music. The meld of funked up jazz with his lyrical prowess has created a ... Read More:
