Krush from Japan's second LP excursion finds him in spaced out hiphop territory. The beats have that proper boom-bip like premier etc; the cream of East coast production, combined with an abstract quality, and an ability to let the groove flow.

Many of the tracks feature fantastic scratching too; not particularly fancy, in terms of difficult tricks, but very very musical; every push & flick of the crossfader exactly where it's needed.

Excellent stuff; will calm your mind & make you nod your head.

OK, yes, a few of these songs have been readily available on other releases. But that aside, I would go as far as to say that Preemptive Strike contains some of Shadow's greatest moments.

As epic as Entroducing is, this collection pushes the envelope even further. What Does Your Soul Look Like part 2 is nothing short of vast in scale with its dramatic strings, crashing drums and mournful vocals. In contrast, part 3 is delicate and minimal, a meandering flute and tinkling piano taking centre stage. Every defining characteristic of Entroducing (delicate ambience, long patient pauses, impeccable drum breaks, slow, smoothly paced song dynamics) is taken that bit further in these songs. Despite being a collection of separately composed ... Read More:

Music : Tomorrow Comes Today
This is a re-released single by Gorillaz from the Album 'Gorillaz' and it really manages to show to the world what the band is about, The darker more pure side, instead of the poppy-dance stilings of previous singles like 19/2000, the single also includes a couple of features for the PC including the brilliant, dark video to the song, a bio sheet, and a sort of cartoon all showing the wonderfull artwork of Jamie Hewlett, the single will appeal to brit pop fans and any big fans of the band, you should buy it even if you own the album just for the exclusive PC features.

Being new to the scene a lot were expected of cartoon band Gorillaz and they delivered in a way which was unbelievable with this fantastic debut album.

They came into the market having not a lot of success but were able to deliver in the form of their first single `Clint Eastwood' which reached number 4 in the UK charts but probably deserved higher with its cool style and interesting choice of lyrics.

The songs are very different from your average rock band. Because their mode of address is very unusual it struck a cord with a wide range of people. The video for Clint Eastwood showed the band dancing and the drummer being turned into a monster. The funny elements and amazing graphics were great but the whole music concepts are ... Read More:

the original full length tracks. only 26 tracks though from the 100+ used in brainfreeze. but it seems to be a pick of the best ones Featuring Giorgio Tears as used at the end of the second track and sampled in Organ Donor by Shadow Him self. a worthy addition to any beatheads collection.

To me, DJ shadow is very innovative. Endtroducing, The Private Press, Brainfreeze and Product Placement were all superb. But this is pretty lame in my opinion. The bling-bling rapping is very contemporary and not at all in keeping with the style of music Shadow produces. Horrible - I don't know how he got involved in such a disaster.

DJ Shadow is an amazing producer. Endtroducing and Pre-Emptive Strike are bona-fide classics. What a lot of people didn't realise was that while his LPs carried the Shadow mantle, he is also a DJ.

Following the success of Brainfreeze, he began to believe his own hype and co-produced the less-than-great Product Placement. Shadow wanted to be Hip Hop again, not (ugh) Trip Hop.

Unfortunately, Shadow's not the true Party-meister. Private Press was technically great but uninspired and uninteresting Instrumental Hip Hop. 3 good tracks does not a classic make.

This EP shifts the balance and injects a party atmosphere into the music. Track by track:

Right Thing -- a master mix of Shadow material that turns sh*t into gold at every ... Read More:
