There are endless superlatives that have beew thrown at this classic jazz album, but I am more interested in making people aware that this sounds much better on vinyl than on CD (if using a top quality turntable). The dynamic sound quality is just so much better and its crystal clear and the vinyl version adds something very special. If you like this album and have a turntable, then I thoroughly recommend you to purchase the vinyl format, especially due to its really bargain price!

Scraps and nuggets from a doomed feast. The paucity of salvageable material (no less than four versions of one track for example) backs up the now legendary accounts of the 'difficulties' John Mclaughlin and Tony Williams had with Jaco Pastorius... but inspite of it all the music veritably roars at times; each member an absolute master of his instrument. Aaaah what might have been.

There is an old saying in music that you are only as good as your last album, and I am afriaid Quantic may be suffering from this in the public's perceptions at the moment. The Fifth Exotic, Stampede and Apricot Morning are all wonderful albums that have been played and played to death on my system...but his last effort An Announcement To Answer left me cold. There seemed to be little spark or originality there. So when this new release hit the streets I have to admit to being a little non-plussed. Could I be bothered to make the effort? This is the Standard Collection for the 20th Century Miracle Frank Sinatra,this CD was my Second Sinatra's Collection I Bought it from Virgin Megastore in Brighton,in my Opinion the most tracks on this CD more Romantic than other Collections.

From top to bottom, this is a great CD. Every track Michael does it perfect. I have yet to see him in concert, but should I get the chance I will. Probably one of the greatest singers (now) of our time. He has taken off where Frank Sinatra left off.

what a fantasic album. i first heard of the penguin cafe orchestra on irelands classic radio whilst on holiday there. on my return home i bought a copy of "a brief history" and my ears have been truly treated. if you have heard anything by the pco but dont own any of their stuff, but like this sort of music then take the plunge you wont regret it and just like me treat your ears.

This is the epitome of easy listening, as it evokes a time when everything was so less complicated. Some would say it tends towards the cheesy, but...bring it on.The songs remind me so much of when I was small and the radio was always on, and everyone sang along. so different from sitting glued to the TV today. This is a brilliant collection at a remarkable price.Some of the titles I was unfamiliar with, but all in all, a most welcome and enjoyable addition to my collection.

I have always been a fan of the Great Ella, and was bought this CD for my birthday last year. Although possessing other CD's by Ella I had never experienced her in such glory until I received this album. Although consistently amazing this CD is, in my humble opinion, worth buying solely for the recording of With a Song in My Heart. A fabulous song, a brilliant voice - a desert island disc!

Plenty of others have written helpful summaries of the original album 'Frank', so my contribution is to provide a review of the new 'Super Deluxe Edition', packaged as a box set with a new 17-track bonus disc of 'previously unreleased radio sessions, rare demos and mixes'. This new edition is no doubt aimed mainly at dedicated fans, who will already own the album itself; the problem is that dedicated fans will also already own most of the 'rare' songs included here. Of the tracks featured on the bonus disc, only a handful are genuinely 'new', and all but one have been heard before in some form. Admittedly, that one unheard song - a cover of the Gershwin classic 'Someone to Watch Over Me' - is absolutely gorgeous, truly sounding like it could be a lost 1930s ... Read More:

Clambering out of my bat cave I stumbled into,no not robin,but this box set.It's a blinder.Hay 'mr.big stuff''Time is tight'can I do the'soul limbo."A what am I going on about back there",here's the big stuff it's a great box set from stax.Iv not got that much soul,so most of it was new to me,what a treat. P.S. sorry I have nothing to add as from where Stax came from,but I am a smart arse!
