This is really a nice discovery, if you don't know Melody Gardot's tunes. I didn't know of her before listening to this, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the awful cover concealed a tight little collection of songs. The production takes up the baton from, say, Ray La Montagne or Madeleine Peyroux, if you happen to know either of those chaps, being all smoky clubs and drum brushes and minor key niceness. Though it could be said to threaten, it never drops into hokey caricature, but delivers I think an honest collection of songs, well worth repeated listening.

Even if you are not a Metheny fan. Which I am, owning nearly every release with Metheny playing. You have to own this Album. I like the others, have had the Polish release for many years and just can not stop listening to it. They have to go on tour together now- surely!

I once had Bensons'Greatest Hits and listened to the album over and over again..Then I gave it to a man I loved, cause he loved him aswell. That love is gone now, but my love for Mr.Benson is as srong as ever. This cd holds all the songs I've once had,eccept one(Living inside your love)That's fair enough. Beautiful,don't hesitate to buy it if you want a complete album! Miranda

Reading Buble reviews are a paradox in that die hard fans rave about him (and get `useful review' votes from other die hard fans) while other more critical reviews get slammed. How about an attempt at objectivity? Buble is a wonderful vocalist, but there honestly is no musical originality here. If you are seeking music for a dash of innovation or emotion - or anything I can think of really - Buble really cannot deliver it. It is the culinary equivalent of an excellent drink of water - perfect every way, but without any describable qualities. I last heard this playing in an airport lounge - and that really says it all. The name Frank Sinatra is synonymous with with Jazz, Swing and Orchestral sound of music. He had an unmatched vocal talent and his music will always be viewed as legendary. It's hard to believe it's just over 10 years since we unfortunately lost this musical great. The Platinum collection compiles all of his classic greats that anyone and everyone would recognise instantly. His music wasn't made in the same way as todays standards. It wasn't released album by album, and you didn't need crazy looking music videos in order to get people to pay attention. After "Bees And Things And Flowers," I was so looking forward to "Tales" (and maybe that was the problem)that I almost ripped the cd out of the posties hands. But after a couple of listens I was ready to consign it to the "looks like they are on the downslope" section of my cd collection.The more laid back acoustic groove of what I thought was merely a stop gap release in "Bees....." remained and I was left thinking, where had they left their funkiness? HOWEVER......I am happy to report I was very very wrong. Having stuck with it "Tales..." is actually a very mature collection of songs from a band who are at the top of their playing/singing abilities. It's nice to receive a plesant surprise from time to time. I pre-ordered Jazzanova - Of All The Things Audio CD on Amazon.co.uk about a week ago. It came today, with an FBI warning at the back, guaranteed to be sent from the UK. The long established group from Berlin will officially release their new piece on October 27th. Nice! Half price, btw.
