I recently got this after waiting for ages for if to come down in price!!! Been a huge Kiss fan since Love Gun, Double Platinum (late 70's!)and have over 60 Kiss albums in my collection, so was really chuffed at the prospect of demos, unreleased stuff, live versions etc, and I have to say, I have mixed views. How many times do they need to release stuff already available elsewhere! Surely this set should have been made up entirely of rarities etc? Slightly disapointed but highlights include the demos and recordings from the early days, which are really cool to hear. Packaging as always is superb- lots of cool pictures etc., but alot of the commentry stuff is already available in the book "Behind the Mask". There has to be ... Read More:

if you are not a Randy Newman Fan, the set will be a bit daunting,. But two cds are filled with album tracks including his best known songs. Fans and newcomers alike will be amazed at the cd containing unreleased tracks. Is there a songwriter on earth who has failed to release so many songs of unbelievable quality. The 4th cd covers Randy's film works, and again contains excellent songs and tracks from the various soundtracks he has composed. If i was splitting hairs, I would ask why "Ride Gambler Ride" from Maverick is not included. The Booklet is both informative and enlightening given that Randy's own thoughts on every song are included. Well worth a listen for fans and newcomers alike

These performances have recently been criticised in some quarters for lacking in charm. I couldn't disagree more. I have heard many versions of these symphonies and Pinnock's are far and away the best. They are truly envigorating, sparkling and very attractive sounding. But they are in no way "driven" and to me they lack nothing. The supposedly more charming versions sound ponderous beside these and everyone I have played these records to - including many who would not think to explore "Haydn before the London Symphonies" - have fallen in love with them. And now, they are available at a price that is a real bargain. Buy this set!

Have owned this for many years and it is still the greatest box set in my collection. The (original) Misfits are my all time favourite band and this set is fantastic from start to finish. A couple of the demos are a bit weak but the vast number of classic tracks more than make up for it. 5 stars is too small a rating for this box set.

At a guess, Patrick Woodroffe is the better known of the two. I bought the original LP/book about thirty years back, entranced by the artwork. Dave Greenslade's contribution sounded a lot better back then, but has paled a lot since - quite how so many keyboards could produce quite such a limited soundscape bothers me, since his contemporaries - Rick Wakeman, Tony Banks, John Lord, Keith Emerson - seemed to do a lot more with the same. Maybe it was the reliance on Yamaha.... The illustrations are quite extraordinary, and stand on their own, alongside any of Woodroffe's other books. Worth getting the 12" version - if you can - just for those. Now, there is one exception for Greenslade, and when you listen to it you really wonder ... Read More:

There are many of these low priced CD's by The Percy Faith Orchestra on the market and they also appear on many different labels as the recordings seem to have been licensed to third party distributors all over the world and although these recordings are very good there is one thing that you should know - although the orchestral arrangements are by Percy Faith,these recordings are not by the great man himself. Percy sadly passed away in 1976 and during the 1990's a new interest in what is termed "easy" or "beautiful" music sprang up and suddenly this type of music was "in." A number of fans of Percy Faith,including myself tried to persuade Sony Music to reissue the complete albums by Percy Faith with little success and so JVC Victor with the permission ... Read More:

What you get it basically a patterned grey/black box. The lid lifts up on the top to reveal the spines of 5 CD cases and a CD shaped booklet. Each CD case contains 2 CDs and the track listings etc. Marvelous. Oh, and the music's pretty good too! ;-)
