This is one of the best live albums I have ever heard; every song is amazing; it really bewilders me how good this band has been for so long, one of the greateset bands of all time and still belting out the tunes; well worth the listen

Absolutely brilliant and great value as well. I could be biased because I am a big fan of the band, however, I cannot imagine anyone not being totally thrilled with this cd.

I had this on vinyl in the 70s, and it's a glaring reminder that records used to have two sides. Side 1 is appalling, almost unlistenable - from Eno's squawks to the lumbering dirges contributed by the former Velvets, Cale and Nico. I think I played it once. Side 2 however is pure joy. The great Kevin Ayers strolls out to sing five proper songs with a kind of lazy exuberance and the sort of easy charm that only slightly posh Englishmen seem to have. The band are tight and the guitar solos by Mike Oldfield and the underrated Ollie Halsall are exquisite.

Some critics have observed that this performance would not give new listeners any indication of Ayers' seminal role in the British experimental and "progressive" rock music scene ... Read More:

The Best Of John Mayall-Bluesbreakers is a great album for that hit of sixties blues music. It starts with the superb 'Crawling Up A Hill' and goes from strength to strength. You get examples of all the most famous guitarists he had playing with him and hear how tight his various bands were. John Mayall's Bluebreakers were the forming ground for many blues and rock artists of the time and his influence is well acknowledged by musicians and fans alike. This is a great starting place if you want to hear his style and sound and this album tends to be less expensive that 'The Essential' collection also available. If you like this you can progress to other classic albums by the band, as well as a live album, which is an important element of the overall ... Read More:

He released Journeyman which was cool and then...as far as an original album of material goes there was Pilgrim and then this. Now, Pilgrim was full of strong songs that were poorly (or overly) produced by Simon Climie. This album has fairly weak material that Mr Climie seems to have had sound more natural. Which is a shame because the songs on Pilgrim are so much stronger and ones that Eric really cared about. Even worse, Back Home, the follow up in terms of a 'normal' Clapton album, was not only weak in terms of songs, but those 'orrible production values were back in the fray. In this sense, apart from Me and Mr Johnson, this is the best Eric Clapton album in years.
Its an interesting concept involving Eric's upbringing (Reptile being a term ... Read More:

My title says it all really. I'm a fan of Zep, AC/DC, Gary Moore, Guns'n'Roses, The Cult etc and this album is one of the best live albums I possess in my 600+ cd collection. Brilliant songs, awesome guitar, great production....what more could you possibly want? Plus, look at the cost! This album has dropped to bargain basement prices.

If you appreciate fine song writing, dazzling guitar playing and sublime vocals then why have you not purchased this excellent 2 cd set from one of the greatest British artists ever? This compliation really does offer extra ordinary value and there is not a dud song in site. And yes, it does contain songs from THAT live album (which of course is timeless but for too many people, thats all they have ever heard by Peter Frampton). This compliation is an Aladdin's cave of the very best of Mr Frampton and is proof that he made consistently fine music during his long career. The fact that it is remastered also enhances the listening pleasure so what are you doing reading this??!! Add to your basket now without further hesitation. Trust me on this one!

Not the first Gary Moore album I owned - that was actually still got the blues - but whilst learning guitar I got seriously into his stuff and purchased pretty much all his work. Back On The Streets is more imaginative I guess but this is the one I have the biggest soft spot for and the one I would recommend. It's pretty much four guys busting away in a hot studio over their instruments and pounding out proper four/four rock songs. Cozy Powell on drums is as reliable as ever but it's actually the strength of the songs and of course Gary's by turns venomous and beautiful guitar playing that make this album just so bloody good.

This is Eric Clapton at his very, very best. Miss this at your peril! Great songs, great band, great solos. I always preferred EC's Domino phase, closely followed by Cream. This and the deleted "In Concert" are superb gigs from that era.

There is a good album in here struggling to get out of the straightjacket imposed on it by Steve Albini, who dampens everything down with a hideous spongy bottom-end production that makes this record sound like it was recorded in a padded cell. I had to look at the credits to realise there was a drummer and bassist present; both sound like they were banished to the studio car park, to keep them out of the sight of the two rock gods whilst they got on with the business of talking about the good old days.

The mighty Most High transcends most of the rest of this material; but Blue Train and When We Were Young are also fine songs. However there are also a couple of duds: House Of Love and the ultimate throwaway Burning Up.

Somebody at Mercury, or whatever ... Read More:
