This was the first Santana album that I bought, and I wasn't disappointed. The songs "Smooth", "Put Your Lights On" and "Maria Maria" are among the best songs I've ever heard and for some reason make me feel much happier after I hear them! But seriously, this is a great album, and a brilliant place to start out when buying a bit of the ol' Carlos magic.

If this was the best of Clapton then there would be none of his albums in my collection. No surprise to see Phil Collins was involved, this is Clapton sans fire, sans soul, sans almost everything. Despite his inconsistent output he has produced some magical albums from Mayall onwards, be picky there are much much better albums than this MOR, corporate moneygrabber.

Having been a fan of Neil Youngs for donkeys years, I can still play a number of his albums and still feel the power from his vocal talents that have seen him go from decade to decade with the thrill and excitement that only a true musician can offer. The decade album offers some very good tracks for an insite to young for those whom have yet to really listen to what he can offer. Old Man is basically my favourite Neil young song ever and that alone for me sets the standard of a true gifted master at work. Any neil young album for me is essential to a music collection, and this one paves the way for those who are looking to grasp a section of what Neil has to offer.

This album is an enjoyable experience from start to finish, the song writing is incredible.

I've never really bothered with live albums in the past, always finding them a poor substitute of actually being there. This album changed my mind...

Neil emerged from the dark brilliance of his brooding mid-seventies period to make his most accessible album since Harvest. If he is mostly known for folk, country, and rock, this album is firmly rooted in the folk/country categories, which he does as well as anyone. This is a very fine album that demonstrates that Young can still be deeply reflective whilst maintaining a mellow - though never bland - approach to the music. As well as a great couple of openers, look out for Four Strong Winds, a country standard that perfectly fits the tone of the album.

So it's fair to say that without Neil Young's "dirty" guitar sound, perhaps grunge may not have been what we know today. From Pearl Jam working extensively with the man to Kurt Cobain quoting him in his suicide note, Neil Young was a driving influence. So in 1990, after the somewhat low key release of Nirvana's "Bleach," it begins to look like a new breed of musician may be coming out of Seattle, perhaps the torch is going to be passed on, and what Young started will be taken to its logical conclusion? Then Neil Young and Crazy Horse strike out with an album that proves that they not only influenced this scene, they can define it too. An album from a band in its third decade that just screams to be recognised as a contemporary of the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, or anyone ... Read More:

Why is it when you tell the common-or-garden Rod Stewart fan that their idol sings on two of Jeff Beck's finest albums, they look at you as if you're the village idiot? Not that this album or 'Truth' need their sales to be increased by Rod's status in the band, but it's just that those people think you're having a laugh, when in fact you're trying to do them a favour. But never mind, it's their loss, and whilst Rod might be billed as 'vocalist extraordinaire,' he isn't the only 'name' on here, there's Ronny Wood and Nicky Hopkins, too; and Tony Newman was quite a well-renowned and straight-ahead rock drummer, too.
