This is just amazing Zep tunes and blues covers.played brilliantly and sung like only Chris can ,he does fit in very very well Page joined the Crows and we are so lucky it was recorded A BREATH of fresh air blowin through the ZEP material!!! Also being on stage with a group like this must take the pressure of Jimmy and he can then relax and just play. Im sure Page and maybe J P Jones will get a group like this and tour the world. Me I can not wait!!

I was turned onto Neil Young early on in my life through this album specifically. I 'rediscovered' it in my mid-teens, a perfect time. After reading other reviews, I have to say, the whole album with possibly the exception of 'Piece of Crap' induces a beautiful tension that one can't quite put your finger on. It begins with 'My Heart', uplifting from a very deep place indeed. The album ends with 'A Dream That Can Last', and it is here that you will be able to feel a tension with every note of Young's voice, not because of the actual song itself, which is beautifully written, but because of listening through the whole album. Let this album into your mind and heart and if you listen to it from start to finish a few times, you will realise its ... Read More:

This is the most essential of a list of essential Ry Cooder albums. If you only ever buy one of his CDs, make it this one.

I wore the vinyl out and had to buy it again and then I had to buy the CD. Someone borrowed the CD, they moved and I never got it back so I had to buy it again.

The playing is immaculate, it is simply wonderful music. The Mexican influences are great and really bring an extra dimension. This is the culmination of everything RC did before and overshadows everything he has done since.

Buy this album.

I've always been led to believe that this was one of Neil Young's weak albums. As ever, opinion is divided. Just as Mirrorball and Living With War are among my favourite Young albums, there are others who rate Harvest Moon and Ragged Glory highly.

American Stars N Bars isn't about to become one of my favourites, but it's still strong. I've read reviews that say it doesn't hang together, that there's too much disparity between the first half of the album and the second. Of course it's essential if only for the inclusion of the classic "Like A Hurricane", though I've also read that the version here is tame compared to some of the live workouts from the 1976 tour. I wouldn't say that's fair either. It's shorter than some of the live versions I've heard, but the ... Read More:

First, let me apologise for the terrible title of this review.

Received wisdom tells us that following four undisputed Stones classics ("Beggar's Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers" and "Exile on Main Street") "Goat's Head Soup" marked a decline in quality. I used to agree but having played the album a couple of times recently for the first time in ages I've changed my mind and think it should be ranked among the Stones' finest.

The album is full of class material. There's the famous ballad "Angie" of course. There's another beautiful ballad "Coming Down Again" (probably best we don't enquire too closely what that one's about but I guess it's not about being out of coffee). "Winter" is perhaps one of the most delicate ballads the Stones ... Read More:

Think of all the Led Zeppelin songs you love. Now think of them all played on "Eastern bazaar" instuments that can't be tuned to the pentatonic scale. This crushingly disappointing album brings nothing to the music that defined a rock standard. Witness the number of copies for sale "new or used", and you will realise that dozens before me made the same bad mistake when they bought this self-indulgent offering from Page and Plant. The reviewers who gave it 5 stars are either suffering cognitive dissonance, or took too many of the drugs that the album's stars enjoyed back when they were good.

Where to start on the album...well it has to be Little Wing...the sleeve notes by Jimmie Vaughan state that with headphones on you can hear his amp buzzing and almost smell the pipes burning...and indeed you can, very rarely is anything this good!...add to this stevie's own redition of the title track, though the best version of this is to found on Martin Scorsese's Stevie collection. (a blistering live version).
This album was released just after Vaughan's death and is very possibly his best (studio) album.
What would he have been like if he had lived!?!?

This was Ry Cooder's third solo record and while the first two contain a number of great tracks, demonstrating his great skill on guitar and mandolin, with "Into the purple valley" he really got into his stride, turning out a well-balanced record with a great variety of styles and sounds but a unifying aesthetic.

There is a real Woody Guthrie feel to "How Can You Keep On Moving (Unless You Migrate Too)" and "Taxes On The Farmer Feeds Us All", as well as Guthrie's own "Vigilante Man", which Ry would often revisit in the future. He also applies the same kind of dustbowl sound to Leadbelly's "On a monday" and Johnny Cash's "Hey porter". The Drifter's "Money Honey" has a similar feel but more electric and this electric R&B feel carries on into "Teardrops Will Fall", which I think is one of ... Read More:

This album is so good. It shows Ec playing some stupendous blues, ripping through some Cream tracks, has the better tracks of his output at that time and some excellent playing alongside an orchestra. I've rarely heard EC play the guitar as well as on this album, it is breathtaking at times. One of my favourites of his live work.

this soundtrack to the fantastic film doesn't disappoint usually album soundtracks are full of cast off fillers but this album has amazing songs filled with passion vengance to fill your head until sometime next week "bitter and twisted", "just a dream away", "free me", "my time is gonna come" all these songs have hard rocking drum beat, excellent guitar and blistering vocals from the mouth of Roger Daltrey. "bitter and twisted" has some really venomace lyrics and the rest of the lyrics on this album are from the heart and well thought out. and the production of this album is excellent.
