I find this album absolutely hilairious and the lyrics are random in a funny way. The guitar is ok but the quality of singing is not meaningful enough and Tenacious D should take out thos ear piercing notes in tribute etc.

Martyn is perhaps one of the most erratic recording artists, a reflection presumably of the ups and downs in his own life. As is well documented, 'Grace & Danger' corresponds with one of these troughs, and has resulted in an album which is staggeringly perfect in its artistic and musical execution. The mid-section 'denial' trio of songs beginning with 'Sweet Little Mystery' are ones I return to with depressing regularity. They are sublimely beautiful, and worth the price of the CD alone. Phil Collins and John Giblin are the most wonderfully intuitively rhythm section,so much so that I almost forgive Collins for being both in Genesis and writing Face Value, but nothing is quite that good. This record is far from depressing, but is both haunting and ... Read More:

Vincent Crane was a talented musician and songwriter, but it is the untalented and unmusical guitar thrashings of John Du Cann that raise this album up to five stars.

Just try listening to Sleeping For Years without wetting yourself.

To discover that Crane dumped Du Cann because he (Crane) wanted a sound more like James Brown is simply the icing on the cake that is this riotously fun and hugely charming album.

It's not all outrageous, camp fun. This album is also laced with Crane's interesting work; especially Nobody Else, which in spite of Mr Du Cann's contributions, is a real gem. Also worth a listen are songs like VUG and Gersatzer, which are songs very much of their time.

An absolute must have and ... Read More:

"Naturally" by J J Cale - an album that compells you to nod your head and utter the words "Hell, yeah."

Make no mistake, this album is seriously cool - a short collection of perfectly executed tunes. The tunes bop and swagger along, underpinned by tantalising guitar licks, awesome boogie-woogie piano, cheeky drum beats and Cale's laconic vocal drawl.

"After Midnight" is a cracker - a bluesy piano riff, off-beat rhythms and a sassy vocal from Mr Cale. "Nowhere To Run" is beautiful muted funk, with choppy piano, a honeyed vocal line and a solid gold horn section. Both of these tunes are perfect examples of the laid back vibe that permeates this consistently great album.

"Naturally" is as welcome and as easily enjoyable as ... Read More:

If you know little of this beloved British band beyond their three Greatest Hits albums and the bombast of their Eighties stadium shows, then this extraordinary record may have eluded you. Time to make amends. Queen II is one of the most ambitious, decadent, preposterous and exhilarating encounters between man and recording studio in the history of popular music. 'A Night At The Opera' from 1975 may be more balanced, considered and mature, but for sheer bloody bravado and musical abandon, Queen II takes all comers. It should be part of the national curriculum, awarded the Victoria Cross, shot into space for alternative life forms to marvel at. It's Brian May's favourite Queen album and it will become yours too. Seeing it offered up for mere pounds is nothing short of a crime. ... Read More:

The Live album Skin and Bones is a brilliant and varied album from the Foos. Feauturing classics such as 'Times like these' and 'best of you' peformed live by Dave Grohl and co. - a must-have for Foo fighters fans - the lyrical performances are strong and emotive, even though you're not witnessing it live, the recording is excellent. Grohl is stripped to his acoustic core, in this brilliant and inspiring live album, truly amazing!
