Ok so it's easy to be a little disgruntled at Roadrunner for milking the cash cow for all its worth and then some, but would you honestly expect anything less? But lets forget about any disputes with the record label and take a look at whats on offer here.

'The Blackening' is probably Machine Heads strongest release since their debut (not that any of their releases are particularly weak) and its also probably their darkest and heaviest release and on its original release arguably the album of its year, and if you haven't heard it yet where on earth have you been?

Now with this special edition we get a second cd containing various covers, live tracks and alternative mixes, and also a dvd with footage from various shows ... Read More:

for all you young metal fans , who ever wondered, "where did metal come from, when did it begin" well you are now looking at the very first album of heavy metal, some people will tell you, that metal was made by led zepplin, the kinks, jimmy hendrix or other mere hard rock bands of teh 60's but they are wrong. go ahead, listen to a whole lotta love, then listen to the track black sabbath on this cd, and see the difference. this is were metal started, if you dont believe this review then see teh documentary "heavy, teh story of metal"

buy this if you love metal, the production is dated but teh music is timeless

Given that it was first released a year after Deep Purple released In Rock, I had expected something with a bit more guts and oomph - although my expectations are obviously not the fault of Wishbone Ash.
Even so, I find the whole album just a bit too tame. The strong hippy/pacifist background theme of the album rubs off on the music and I find the resulting album just a little bit too pleasant and inoffensive.

The strength of the album - the vocal harmonies - remind me heavily in parts (particularly Blowin' Free) of Crosby Stills and Nash, and I would file them firmly in the drawer marked 'Easy Listening'. The melodies are excellent pretty much throughout, but lack any sort of edge.

Where I can draw a Rock comparison is in the sort ... Read More:

This is the compilation which defines the most criminally overlooked rock band in history. One of the greatest songwriters of the late 20th century, backed up by a troop of amazing guitarists, with Gorham, Robertson and Moore blasting out riffs and, more importantly, some of the greatest guitar solos ever throughout each song on this compilation. This band is a monolith of rock music and thankfully this compilation shows this very well.

my only quibble is that perhaps this shouldve been called 'the very best of' or something like that. In that case southbound and massacre couldve been added too, as well as the rest of the black rose album. The packaging is great also, as well as the music, and the story of lizzy is presented inside along with some great photos of ... Read More:

In my opinion And Justice For All is the album where Metallica shifted direction into what can best be described as hard progressive rock. If you want to enjoy the best of the band buy the first three albums, after that the song writing and music gets a little tedious and long-gone are the great riffs and tight songs of the earlier material. It's not that bad an effort, but really only an essential purchase for hardcore fans.

After hearing Razorlights 2nd record and enjoying it at the time. I decided to buy this debut offering, and after hearing this record i decided to listen to razorlight again and i found out that it actually isn't that good, Johnny Borrell's lyrics are heavily influenced by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat formely of The Libertines. Unlike 2006's Razorlight which is trying to be a album with a U2 epic scope, but this album is trying and succeds to be a album full of Libertines influnced tunes about London nights and romance. The first Track Leave Me Alone isn't the greatest opening to an album, although it is catchy enough to be a decent opening to the album. Rock N Roll Lies was the first single Razorlight did and is a great first single that should have got higher in the charts while Vice ... Read More:

I bought this album as a teenager in the 70's and never felt it was one of zeps greatest albums compared to Physical Graffiti and vol4 so unfortunately it was the last of the remasters that I bought. Having listened to it a couple of times it has quickly become one of my favourates. Its understated beauty really hit me and touched me particularly "tangerine" and the really beautiful "thats the way". Pity the packaging doesnt reflect the curiosity of the original LP cover. Buy it and enjoy!

I first heard this album back in the summer of 1982 and it sounds as good now as it did then. I was already familiar with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) and I'd heard bits of Highway to Hell and Back in Black but this was what converted me. The songs on this album are infantile, puerile, barely adolescent... and absolutely brilliant.

From the crash-bang-thump intro to the swaggering title track to the fade out at the end of the distinctly sleazy and tasteless Squealer this is pure, unbridled rock'n'roll joy. The album is full to the brim with classic tracks: the sleazy Love at First Feel, the behind-the-bike-shed single-entendre-laden Big Balls, Rocker and Problem Child ("...and my mother hates me!") coming on like Chuck Berry's lovechild being sectioned... and, out ... Yep, Aerosmith have released many many greatest hits albums. I think this one has the best mixture of tracks of the lot though, a range of all their hits starting from way back. Some fantastic songs.
Highly recommended if you've only heard a limited amount of Aerosmith music, as it'll give you the pick of the best of the rest, and you may well decide to look into their more obscure stuff.

About a month ago I stumbled across "Extreme" after watching a Youtube video featuring "Lil Jack Horny" as background music. After that, I done some more digging & bought their entire collection of CDs...

These guys are just awesome and I really wish I'd heard their music sooner.

"Saudades De Rock" is a terrific album and is even better when the volume is cranked up real loud. It has echos of "Pornograffiti" in some songs but, it's got a sound all of it's own when you listen more closely. To be completely honest here...it did take me a few listening sessions to really get into it but once I did...I was blown away by the opener "Star"!

This album has a wonderful mix of head-banging metal riffs, funk & melodic drums. It's a combination I would struggle ... Read More:
