A few years ago I remember buying this and thinking it was a really good album and it is a very good album, it has great lyrics, good riffs, and great songs and that's all you need. My favourite songs are "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Figure .09", "Breaking The Habit" & Numb". I don't mind what genre they are in they are a good band (if you forget about there new album), they are much better then Korn & Limp Bizkit and have much more talent, but still it was obviously never gonna be as good as Megadeth's So Far So Good So What! or Black Sabbath self titled debut but those are totally different genres and my own opinion. So overall this is an excellent album recommended for Linkin Park fans and fans of rap metal.

In the 70ies, I 've been a die-hard URIAH HEEP fan. Facing a big deception upon the release of the awful "Conquest", I lost any interest when they got radio friendly with subsequent releases. But here they seem to make over for the 30 years of dinosauric mediocrity. "Wake the Sleeper" is their best album since 1978's "Fallen Angel". Excellent stuff when it comes to songwriting and great musicanship all over! Mick shreads on the wah-wah Les Paul squeals and Phil Lanzon swimply does awsomely Ken Hensley's job. Russel Gilbrook is a solid Lee Kerslake replacement. Trevor Bolder is the faultless spine he always had been since his days with Bowie's SPIDERS FROM MARS. However, I wish they 'd done it with a heavier production when it comes to hammond organ swirls ... Read More:

If you want a change here it is. Metallica grew up and tried something different. You hear alot of metalligeeks (they are the narrow minded fans who want complex thrash metal - very original eh!) claim this album is terrible, metallica sucked from this album on blah blah blah...

Truth be told, this album is great. It's a fine mix between heavy metal and the blues. The riffs and songs in general are more in line with the Black Album but it has abit more variety.

The tempo for most of the songs are mostly mid tempo, which can drag abit but if you're like me who love some AC/DC or any of that classic heavy stuff then it's right down your road.

Don't expect any "thrashing" classics, just some great mid tempo heavy metal.

For those of you who are unaware this was the second incarnation of Deep Purple, the most notable change being the vocalist Ian Gillan with his screaming, howling and soulful vocal chords. Faint of heart beware, this could have been the founding point of heavy metal (Speed King). They went in an instant from being an art rock band to being a hard rock band. The three pronged attack of organ, vocal and guitar make this album see-saw between brooding and frantic. However, nothing can be taken away from the very tight rhythm section of Ian Paice and Roger Glover. This is really the best of Mark II, and in the later albums of this grouping most of the songs are done better on live versions (especially Machine head - Smoke on the Water is pretty lame as the studio version).

"The Number Of The Beast" is an absolute classic, a landmark album in music/rock/metal history. And this reissue is an absolute disaster, with the classic cover printed in wrong colors, and the audio victimized by the infamous "loudness war" (Google the expression if you don't know what it means), with the music having been turned into one big mass of distorted noise. I did a full audio analysis of the whole album and just can't understand how the band's label could have let this precious material fall into the hands of inept audio engineers capable of producing something this amateurish. I wonder if the band had any say in these "enhanced" releases. Avoid this thing and buy an older, non-enhanced and non-remastered CD edition of the album if you want to hear how this masterpiece is really ... Read More:

Yep, Aerosmith have released many many greatest hits albums. I think this one has the best mixture of tracks of the lot though, a range of all their hits starting from way back. Some fantastic songs.
Highly recommended if you've only heard a limited amount of Aerosmith music, as it'll give you the pick of the best of the rest, and you may well decide to look into their more obscure stuff.

Music : Black Stone Cherry
One of the finest rock debut albums I've come across and thats going back to the debuts of Montrose and the like.
Lonely Train stands out for me - incredible riff.
The whole album doesn't have a weak track on it. Unique ball breaking rock with overtones of Skynyrd, Blackfoot and the likes but brought into the heavier arena. Love it.
I you like southern rock with a heavier edge, go out and buy it you won't be disappointed.

Thin Lizzy has always been big because they are one of the most famous rock bands and the fact that they are Irish and that type of hype never appeals to me it's happend to bands like U2 & Snow Patrol, and they arn't as good as everyone says they are. But Thin Lizzy are a great irish rock n roll band. Made famour by their songs The Boys are back in town & Whiskey In The Jar, they are more then just those 2 awesome songs. This album for example, all the songs are excellent and some brilliant rock n roll riffs. With classics likes Jailbreak, Angel From The Coast & of course The Boys Are Back In Town. This is a brilliant way to start with Thin Lizzy if you're curious about the band, you will already know The Boys are Back In Town so you won't be dissapointed with it. Yes Thin Lizzy are an awesome rock ... Read More:

Every Uriah Heep fan will tell you that this is the groups best at the time of release album. everything slotted together perfectly. a stable line up, great writing plenty of rehearsal before recording and a sense of well being.. the remaster has a fantastic selection of out-takes that other top groups would have begged stole bought rather than gathering dust in some vault..
