A hybrid of seemingly impossible genres, but they pull it off, and more! This has to be one of the best albums I have ever heard. If you have a dark classical side, or even if you just like metal and have an open mind then this worth buying, just listen to "nothing else matters"...

This band and their work need to be celibrated. Six stars...

Well Usually i dont like a band or album because of the vocals, but i dont have that problem with this album cause it's just instrumental awesome rock. This album is filled with great solos and songs. No filler just all killer. If you like rock music and you're curious about this just buy it.

I was blown away the first time I heard this band, and now months later, after delving into the genre in a big way, I've yet to hear better.Nightwish are a Finnish 5-piece with standard rock line-up except they use an operatic soprano as lead vocalist.First released in 1998 this is exceptionally powerful and colourful music. The soprano vocals may take a little getting used to (I've been raised on classic rock) but Tarja sounds absolutely wonderful on the big ballads (one of which is a great version of "Walking in the Air")On some of the more metal-type numbers I can't help wishing from time to time that Ronnie James Dio or Glenn Hughes was singing that material. In other words she has a beautiful big voice but I'm not always convinced it suits the music.Where ... Every Uriah Heep fan will tell you that this is the groups best at the time of release album. everything slotted together perfectly. a stable line up, great writing plenty of rehearsal before recording and a sense of well being.. the remaster has a fantastic selection of out-takes that other top groups would have begged stole bought rather than gathering dust in some vault..

I was atttracted to this album after listening to "Here I Go Again" and bought this album a few weeks later. Initially I just listened to that one song but I gave the other songs a go and I realized why Whitesnake are one of the more popular hard rock bands from the 1980s. "Is This Love?", "Straight For The Heart" and "Don't Turn Away" are all excellent tracks. David Coverdale has a powerful voice that puts many of today's Indie bands to shame and John Sykes is great guitarist and every solo is pleasurable to listen to. "Here I Go Again" is still my favourite track however and Adrian Vandenberg's guest solo on that track is one of the best I've heard. Vandenberg would later appear as a proper member of Whitesnake later on.
Over all, a top notch album.

186.Worlds Collide by: Apocalyptica
September 17, 2007
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Music : Worlds Collide
One of Apocalyptica's finest albums is also one of their most accessible, with the addition of guest vocalists on five of the tracks presented here. Dark, mesmeric and utterly compelling - Apocalyptica exists at the nexus between high and pop art, fusing metal with contemporary classical. Worth owning just for Till Lindemann's performance of Bowie's 'Heroes' in German ('Helden'), which is an equal to his work with Rammstein.

A must-have for Apocalytica's devoted fans, but also the perfect intro to the unique soundscape of the metalist cellists.

This was my first album by the scorpions and to this day I have not grown bored the melodies are great, guitar solos send shivers down my spine. From the first track Loving you Sunday morning you'll be hooked on the power of these German Rock Gods

Good to see this has finally been remastered and the extra songs are welcome. One thing I cannot understand though is No Quarter has been edited from the original version, the previous release was 12:30 in length, this version is around 2 minutes shorter with obvious cuts in the mid-song jam section. Why on earth would you re-master an original and then cut sections of a song out?

Hearing Aerosmith's 'Live Bootleg' just after release put me off them for nearly thirty years. It would have been a different story had I heard this album first. After two highly creditable albums, 'Toys In The Attic' marked the moment when they established their identity. It rocks as hard, but has an extra swagger. They have a simple, abrasive approach, but the tracks featured here are superbly crafted. The rapid-fire title track sounds like their signature tune. 'Uncle Salty' is wicked and 'Adam's Apple' classy. 'Walk This Way' pre-dates rap by three years and has never been surpassed by anything in that genre. 'Big Ten Inch Record,' a cover, provides a light diversion. 'Sweet Emotion' is awesome: it has an almost psychedelic opening and a riff that Jimmy Page missed. 'No More No More' ... Read More:

I bought this when it came out, having loved their previous stuff - especially Comalies. So, on release day I was utterly dissapointed by the repetitive, nu metal bass. Don't argue about it; it's there, through most of the album. Fine if you like that sort of thing; I can't stand it. Maybe it's cos I'm an old goth that's allergic to metal...

Also, the songs themselves just don't seem to have the same dynamics or atmosphere that you expect of this band. There's nothing that even approaches, for example, the layered build-up of 'Swamped'; or the folk-pop sensibilities of their earlier stuff. Just full on, in yer face metal. Yawn.

Excuse me while I go and listen to Eilera.
