What a truly amazing record this is. Five 20 somethings from Kentucky have delivered a fantastic album bursting with Hard Rock sounds and Southern Rock influences, the end result is quite breathtaking. Opening rocker "Rain Wizard" sets the tone, (a song which lyrically tells a great story, by the way) followed by "Backwoods Gold," another superb Hard Rock song. It's on the final three tracks though where the album really starts to shine, these songs are musically perfect, they flow superbly and they sound brilliant. No real power ballads on here, perhaps this is the only thing missing, but those types of song are purely down to personal listener preference rather than a staple song of any hard rock band. This is essentially Led Zeppelin's best album, due to the fact that no other fireball in their cannon has as much diversity as this one. This is an album for the highway and your 67' black camaro.

As a person new to the band and what they had done previously i thought the first 3 tracks absolutely rocked one of the best starts to an album i've heard. Downside being that theres only so much full on singing you can take which lets the rest of the album down pity their was'nt more songs in the mould of hypnotize which is the only other song i really liked.

It's not often that I buy a CD just because I'm going to a gig and want to know the words, but I did with this one...and I've listened to it so many times I know most of the words to the songs! In all honesty, this is one of the best albums I have ever listened to, never mind bought, and as such, I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone who has even a passing interest in music.

There's nothing on this DVD that you can't find on youtube to be honest. And with Metallica launching there own youtube channel recently, all the videos on there are official, so you need not worry about Lars getting mad at you.

I've had this album since it came out and i would say had Metallica not been greedy and took the best songs from Load and Reload and made 1 album it would have surpassed the black album song for song. As it is it has to be treated seprately. I've seen Metallica 4 times -Juctice tour, Roam tour, Load tour and a few years ago at gig on the green in Glasgow. The best tour for me was the Load tour not just because of the venue (Glasgow Barrowlands) but the songs. So be under NO ILLUSION there are some fantastic songs on this album - Mama said, Hero Of The Day, Until it sleeps, Bleeding me & The Outlaw torn, with the latter 2 standing up against the best Metallica songs recorded since Puppets. Let's be honest here. Girlschool haven't made a good album since 1982. Sure, there have been sporadic outbursts of recording over the years, as lineups came and went, but not many people would go to the end of the road for a new record from them. Now it's 30 years since Painted Lady (Enid Williams, Kim McAuliffe, Kelly Johnson and Denise Dufort) changed their name to Girlschool and released their debut single "Take It All Away". Something that led to a support slot on Motorhead's Overkill tour in the spring of 1979, the first encounter for many (including me) with them. They had a few good years, but it all went pear shaped after 1982's Screaming Blue Murder when they tried to refine their biker rock into something a bit more shiny, and the intervening years haven't been ... Hail Metal Brethern! The Lords of Viking Metal have returned. And in Thors name, it is good. Of course, strip away the image and the artwork, and Amon Amarth are really just punting out some top quality death metal. But add in all the other bits and bobs, and the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. This latest album also sees guitarists Olavi Mikkonen and Johan Söderberg raising their game to new highs, something that pushes the album on to another level. The album really hangs together as a proper collection, rather than as a good EP, padded out with pap, as too many death metal bands think they can get away with, and on numbers like the title track, 'Free Will Sacrifice' and 'Live for the Kill', the latter augmented by those for sure crazy Apocalyptica ... Yes im not lying. But mark 2 is verry much the best one. Who does that remind you of? oh yeah deep purple. Not that im complaining. The album is full of classic rainbow. Some like tarot woman should have appeared on a rainbow album (only ever appeared live on dio's holy diver live). The obvious classic is stargazer. Cozy powell's intro is mint. Run with the wolf and do you close your eye's are also great. A classic album well worth the money!

I'm new to Gojira and can't quite believe how bone crushingly brilliant this album is. Mastodon would appear to be a major influence and that's no bad thing. Fans of Blood Mountain will love this. Gojira are no clone though and stamp their own identity all over your face. From start to finish it's a brutally heavy rib-snapping tour de force.
