After hearing the rich variety of musics and experiences in other Sawhney albums, there is nothing here at all. Extremely bland. Even the words don't say anything. The tapestry was so rich before, but this... It's just nothing.

This album is, undeniably, a classic. It is my favourite hip-hop album ever. If you're expecting something that sounds up to date, then you'll be disappointed, but who cares - this album was made in 1987 and sounds EXACTLY like it was made in that year. Rakim's lyrics and flow are second to none in my opinion, and from his opening line of "I ain't no joke, I used to let the mic smoke, now I slam it when it's done and make sure it's broke" he rhymes effortlessly through this entire album. In comparison he makes most other MCs sound like they are struggling (the only other MCs who have achieved considerable mainstream success who are up there with him in terms of effortless flow, in my opinion, are Nas and Gza). Eric B's beats - pretty minimal ... Read More:

Usually I approach remixes with trepidation. In many cases I feel they add little to the song. At best they are an unrecognizeable mess of tempo thrown together by some dance artiste I feel I should have heard of and feel eternally ashamed that I haven't or they are filled with more padding than the wings of my first car.

This album is different. I feel here as if there has been some effort to keep the spirit of each song if not enhance it. Flaming Lip's take on Satin Chic alone is worth the price of admission not to mention one of my favs off the album Fly Me Away.

Recommended though I have a feeling it's going to be best appreciated by existing fans.

I was a bit dismayed to read some of the reviews pushing this as great jazz, mainly because I have a large collection of jazz (both old and new) and this is probably the least likely thing I've got that falls into that genre. It feels overly repetitive, with the occasional high point - but they are too few to make it anything more than OK. It breaks no new ground, sounds quite derivative, but three stars for the quality of recording & it is well put together. But if you consider this to be great jazz you need to listen to more and cast your net wider.

One of the first "real" hip hop albums I listened to and it continues to sound fresh after all these years. They took everything great about their debut and maximised it; throwing in experimental touches and a subtle use of live instrumentation into the mix, creating what is, in my humble opinion, the greatest jazz-rap album we'll ever hear. Q-Tip and Phife aren't the greatest rappers, but they sound so suitably relaxed and eloquent over the beats that it's easy to understand their lofty status in the world of hip hop. Everything works on The Low End Theory and there's never been a more perfectly suitable closer than "Scenario", the greatest posse cut of all time. Has Busta ever sounded more crazy than when he's roooaaaarrring like a dungeon dragon? ... Read More:

It is wonderful to have a WHOLE listenable album of amazingly well crafted, chilled, sophisticated music by one group.

I just love this album, Lebanese Blonde is one of the best chill out tunes of all time but there are some other truly great tracks on there.

Madlib is a name revered by hip-hop heads and non hip-hop heads alike. Synonymous with pushing the hip-hop envelop by experimenting with new sounds which disregard the typical genre-boundaries in favour of an urban fusion that is laced with a thumping groove, Madlib has steadily forged his status as one of the most prolific and critically acclaimed producers of the new millennium. Being an acronym for Mind Altering Demented Lessons In Beats, the Beat Generation series has certainly given Madlib license to flex his creative muscle and create a new form of beat-crafting. `WLIB AM: King of the Wigflip' is the final installment in the Beat Generation series and through combining a varied and star-studded ensemble of vocalist (Murs, Talib Kwali, J-Rocc et al) ... This album is great fun from beginning to end. A lighthearted beat infused concoction this album is always entertaining and never dull. Even the cheesy cookery analogy doesn't tire and adds a bizarre kind of depth to this funky and upbeat album.

The guest vocalists add a dash of pedigree to the catchy tunes and while it is not going to be heralded as groundbreaking it is a cracking album that will never fail to add cheer to your day.

There are no low points with this record and I would advise it as a fail safe record for those people wishing to dabble in the murky waters of the hip hop world. I can guarantee you will not disappointed!

Dr Dre is the best producer and one of the best rappers in the game. his productions are brilliant and his rhymes are top quality, the Chronic shows that. With Nuttin but a g thang he has produced one of the best rap songs ever, and a song that changed the game. He has introduced one of the most famous styles of hip hop with The Chronic, and that is G Funk. Also Deeeez Nuts is hilarious!
I used to think this was over rated, i have come to realize that it certainly isn't! Great beats and great lyrics, as well as great guests! One of the best hip hop albums ever and the best old school album, essential
