With the exception of the footage of the Democratic Convention protest, this DVD tends to focus less on political extras and more on the music. I suppose this would make sense, with the band broken up it would be difficult to arrange documentaries and interviews of the type found in Battle of Mexico City. A memo should go out to all bands and music DVD producers that says at minimum: "1) Music DVD's should be produced to the highest standards. 2) The musical performances within should represent the talent that made the studio recorded CDs sell. 3) Theatrics are very cool too, as long as you can pull them off without deterioration in the quality of the music." An average album let down by a very weak production - a few good songs but nothing in the same class as Master Of Puppets or Reign In Blood. 1988's State Of Euphoria & 1990's Persistence Of Time are FAR superior despite lacking the iconic status of this vastly overrated 1987 effort. Very mid tempo with a tinny drum sound and thin guitars - not this band's finest hour...........

This is a fantistic Cd and deserves to be bought. The only problem is that they put on two songs that they have on Gorillaz[UK]: '19-2000 (Soulchild Remyx/Remix)' and 'Rock The House'. Even though on the CD, they put put on a '(edit)' at the end, i think, that they just cut out a possible swear word. Despite these setbacks, all in all this is a great album.

like other reviews on here this is the best album i own ! have not stopped listening to it for the last 10 yrs , its in my car , my house , my mp3player ,i advise anyone who has any clue about hip hop to buy this ! *****

This collection is perfect both for those of us who don't have a large hip hop collection and for those who'd like a 'greatest hits' style to sing along to in the car! It has most tracks that you'd want such as 'Jump Around' or 'Push It' as well as the ones you'd forgotten all about such as 'Gangsta's Paradise' or Witness (1 Hope)' I'd definately recommend it - I've already got one copy and I'm now gonna buy one for a friend cos she keeps borrowing mine!!

I heard this album back in the early 90ies when it was released, and was hooked. recently introduced it to many of my teenaged nephews and they admit it is a superb piece of music. every single track is strong and oozes style, lyrical poetry and rhythm. Simply put it is one of the all time Great Hip-Hop albums, which is and will be heard in years to come. Buy It!

An often misused and inappropriate word in the english vocabulary, but believe me this is spot on when describing the work of my fellow Scot. Never heard of Craig Armstrong ? Possibly. Never heard any of his work ? Unlikely So much of his work is played on TV [ commonly as background music, even on Programmes like Football Focus & MOTD. ] My first introduction to the work of Craig Armstrong was in a friends car during a long drive on winters night, when with this CD playing loudly I was literally blown away. This is definitely one of the most original albums produced in the history of UK urban music and for this reason I don't think it received the wider exposure it deserved. It's an comforting deep bassy sound, which is almost unique in my experience, one which completely mesmerized me 8 years ago, and still does today. I don't think he ever really improved on this personally, though others may feel the album is a bit disjointed. I have to say the second track 'dem phonies' does my head in and is probably worth 1 star at best, but the rest is fantastic, especially 'Inna', 'Strange Behaviour', 'Motion 5000' and 'Oh yeah'. Eminem may well be one of the greatest rappers ever. Despite the less than stellar Encore album being his last proper album to date, his reputation is already cemented based on its three predecessors and he will forever be remembered for that. Then why does he choose to surround himself with such mediocre peers? Em's crew, which takes in the ultra-offensive D12, 50 Cent's mostly awful G-Unit and the likes of newcomers like Bobby Creekwater, all pile into this mixtape-a-like album that doesn't really gain Eminem much ground following Encore. This isn't an Eminem album, this is an album that is executive produced by Eminem, and quite frankly, production is not Marshall Mathers' strong suit. This one starts quite well, but soon meanders off and becomes fairly forgettable. The first track, Night Moves, brings you in nice and slow, then POW! Positive K with I Got A Man gets your hips and shoulders working. After that some enjoyable electronic noodling, which then lasts the rest of the album. It gets to the point I can't tell one tune from the next. Aside from the first 3 or 4 tracks, there doesn't feel like there is any direction in this mix, any energy, any variety. Don't get me wrong, there is track after track of great, great tunes, but considering how good Hot Chip are at creating fun, energetic and enjoyable music, this album is surprisingly flat.
