Ordered this directly from the distributor (hence why I have it before the UK release date), and it truly is a brilliant set to have. The artwork is top-notch (no surprise, coming from artist Jhonen Vasquez), it includes all of the art he did for the album (including the cover of the deluxe version) in high resolution quality and is worth buying just for this reason alone. The album itself is pretty good, though no-where near as good as YRTA, FGWSSS or Tight, but passable, despite a few throwaway tracks. The overall arrangement seems a lot better as well, with a reworked track listing spread across two Vinyl disks. First bona fide Rap album I ever bought back in the late '80s. I confess, it was Thrash Metal veterans, Anthrax constantly banging on about them that convinced me! Great album with perhaps the most intelligent lyrics ever written for a Rap cd - even though I don't agree with many of the opinions expressed, I respect them. A production that was way ahead of the time, with great beats, basslines & samples, with a near perfect vocal balance between the intense and angry Chuck D and the more eccentric Flavor Flav. It's easy to see why this had appeal to the Metal crowd with it's heavy, urban tone, militaristic imagery and incendiary attitudes. For all Herbaliser fans out there this is a must. For all non Herbaliser fans who like funny, thoughtful diverse and just plain enjoyable beats this one is also for you. Herbaliser takes you on a fun ride that doesn't tire and has enough uplifting material to put a smile on your face in these times of mass media misery. This is the pill that will make you happy, so put down the valium and put this on instead. If only the NHS prescribed these kind of albums I swear there would be less problems out there! Put it in your basket and set the stereo to 11.

This is a great compilation with an inspired combination of recent hits and old massive tunes. It's worth buying for the first CD alone but if, like me, you do not have all the tracks on back catologue then, at 5 CDs, it's fantastic value for money.

To me, this was one of the best albums of 2003 (Speakerboxx/The Love Below won it for me). If you want to listen to hip-hop that steps outside of the box, this is definitely one you will like. While some tracks are better than others, there aren't really any that you will skip over straight away. Many albums have that (Kanye Graduation = Drunk and Hot Girls = Trash) so you've got to appreciate that Jay-Z put some thought into this instead of just filling the gap with generic tracks. Also this album has a HELL of a lot of highlights, including 'Public Service Announcement' (Which was meant to be an INTERLUDE!!!), and of course the well known 'Dirt Off Your Shoulders'. Take good string/piano dominated classical music, make it moody & dramatic. Now sprinkle with just a hint of the more contemporary elements of the likes of Massive attack and drift off in to outerspace. In fact forget what I've just said, it's not doing the man enough justice! He is pure genius.

This album is amazing whether you are a Tricky fan or not. After seeing him perform two tracks from this album on Later with Jools i couldn't wait for it's release! I wasn't disappointed. If this album was only half as good i still wouldn't have been. It's got everything. Council Estate has an energy i haven't heard or felt since Punk and Two Tone were born. Puppy Toy is a really strong song - it's funny too! Veronika is Powerful because of it's starkness and the lyrics, and it grows on you. C'mon Baby is one of my favourites becouse it's so catchy without being naff and has great lyrics! Buy This Album if you're a fan, try it if you're not!

What an exceptional sophmore album! I had heard 'Run' on the radio many times, found it to be a really likeable piece of music, so i decided to give the album a chance. I was blown away! It exceeds any of my expectations, and has to be one of my albums of the year. It doesn't have the problem of St. Elsewhere in which one song overshadowed the rest, in fact in contrast I can honestly say that any song on the album could be released as singles, they are all THAT good! The album starts with the infectious beat of 'charity case', which is a simple song, instantly loveable with its twinkly rhythm. The song 'Dead and Gone' is the standout track on the album! Lil Wayne sounds awful on 'Swagga Like Us' and if you heard that before Tha Carter 3 then I don't think he would've sold a quarter than what he has. A solid album from TI with enough Raw tracks and a couple of Radio Friendly songs thrown in for him to make his $$$.
