Not your run of the mill money spinner from the record agencies, this album really actually tries to "chill" you out, I have a lot of great memories to some of the tracks on this album so i just had to buy it again after the first one was accidently killed! Bearing in mind i dont usually BUY albums, this should be explanation enough!! well worth buying by anyone who knows a good chill out album when they hear one, Happy Listening.

This album, Seal's best by far, is among my personal favourite albums of all time. The songwriting is first-class and is bettered, perhaps, only by the production. Let me make this quite clear: the production on this album is on a par with any album ever in my opinion (yes, even Thriller). The way the (almost entirely acoustic) instruments play off against each other and complement Seal's wonderful, husky vocal is never anything less than perfection. This is an almbum-listener's album; as other commentators have said, there is no individual 'stand out' track, but as a whole the album fits together perfectly and provides a beautiful, smooth, emotive and perfectly-paced musical journey. It's 2006 yet this CD is as current as if its release date were yesterday. Stephane Pompougnac is, in a word, a gifted master of chillout mix. All Hotel Costes discs are first class but the tunes chosen stike me as the crème de la crème particularly Track 11, "PNC aux Portes", which, --if you've ever been to an afterparty-- you know and love. I know, I know, you would prefer if this were posted at Amazon USA, but I often buy from Amazon UK or FR because discs for European release generally include more tracks. Lucky you!

I agree that the mixing is pretty seamless, as it should be if it's done in a studio. I can't help feeling that this is cheating really: there's a world of difference between mixing live (not necessarily in a club)and creating something in a studio on a computer, i.e. spontenaety. Along with all the other Global Underground series, this left me totally unmoved. I really don't get it: the whole series just seems to be a triumph of style over substance. Go for some of the Journeys by DJ stuff instead.

A much more complete and consistent album than the previous '90'. It contains guest appearances from Bernard Sumner of New Order and Bjork. Made in the early 90's so you've got to remember before buying that this was made at a time when dance music was sweeping through the UK and this Manchester group contributed to it. It may sound slightly dated compared to today's dance music but the effort that was put into this album makes it much more 'real'. It's a mix of soft techno numbers and aggressive rave tracks. The opener 'San Francisco' is a melodic mix of techno and hip-hop while 'Lion' is a reggae-ish techno track. 'Lambrusco Cowboy' is one of the most abrasive beginning tracks 'the state' have ever produced, yet ultimately it turns into a melodic ... Read More:
