I agree with the reviewer below in that some of HK's recent releases have been slightly dodgy and appear to be cashing in on the rise in popularity of funky house music. Die hard fans have been complaining for months about the acquisition of the brand from ailing and tyrannical parent MoS, but it seems that the producers of this album have been given a more free reign to take HK back to its roots.
I'm glad CD1 wasn't reprasentative of the whole album, with lots of fairly commercial "heard it all before" tracks, only saved by decent mixing, however CD2 and 3 are subliminal. Never have Hed Kandi been this funky, the only comparison I can think of is HK: The Mix 50, another brilliant compilation. Tracks from Dervish, Bel Amour, Doc Da Funk, ... Read More:

This CD is awesome! The beats are fast and furious, Cyantific really smacked it with the mixes!
My Favourite in particular is the mix between track 3 (Glitch) and track 4 (Ghost of jungle past)Also track 2 is amazing (Space between) I heard this one on other mix CD's but the way Cyantific rolls it just sounds electric!!
Nearly every other track on here is great too, I can't take this out of my CD player!

Copied it to my IPod but the stupid thing has put gaps between the tracks so it ruins the mix, any ideas how I can get rid of them?!

Anyway you have to get this CD, I agree the tracks are a bit short but thats how it goes with D'n'B mixing!

This is the first (and only so far) compilation album by Soul II Soul covering their amazing career from 1989's Club Classics to 1990's A New Decade and 1992's Just Right. It takes off with the smash hit (no introductions needed)"Back To Life" which is still regarded one of the best R&B records ever. The more mellow "Keep On Moving" is next followed by the sophisticated rap of "Get A Life" and the haunting melodies of "A Dream's A Dream".It's pure soul on "Missing You" , "Move Me No Mountain"(the weakest track in the album) and "Just Right" before it gets a bit more clubby with "People".Soul II Soul's first record ever "Fairplay" probably invented mainstream 90's R&B ... I have all the costes compilations and this is up there with the best of them. Its a good continuation from no 9 which is also very good. Modern chill out tunes to get you through the winter nights, a bit continental, a bit funky and a bit dub. Track 10 is class, nearly like the old days!!!
TUNE. The best new album i have bought for a long time.

Why have they no tracks from their first two albums or any early singles from the mid eighties, they had some decent songs from that period.Part of the bands history seems to have been overlooked.
Screamadelica was a great album, one of few from the first indie-rave era that had substance and all their albums are worthwhile even if they do take a pick and mix approach to music from the past few decades.I still find them a modern sounding band in comparison to the stone roses museum or the oasis o.a.p home.
On investigation it seems there is another compilation called More Dirty Hits (a japanese version) that has some earlier tracks on it.This seems quite common, interesting tracks only turning up on hard to get or expensive imports, why, why, why?

New Order is a rather mysterious band in many ways. It has pre-history and continuing influence by groups such as Kraftwerk, Eno and the Velvet Underground, and various other experimental electronic-based European groups. It also has a strong shadow cast over it from Joy Division, an ironic name for a group whose leader (also the founder of New Order) Ian Curtis committed suicide. Enigmatic to the last, New Order members (who drift in and out of other band arrangements; the latest perhaps being Bernard Sumner's work with Electronic) tend to be less than specific when talking with the press, and their albums are conspicuously devoid of liner notes.

This CD, entitled (the best of) New Order for once contains some liner notes, which alas are ... Read More:

If you listened to Annie Nightingale on a Sunday night you would have heard Dr Mabuse regularly. So I bought the 12 inch. When the Album was released I bought it. ZTT were one of the music labels that were just 80's cool. And if you watched Channel 4 American Football Jewell covered the plays of the week.

20 odd years later this is an album I still play. Some feels a bit dated........(wait, the good bit is coming soon) especially D Mabuse, and the weakest tracks are Murder of Love and Sorry For Laughing, but it's not too embarrasing to play to your teenage daughters.

So if you are 50, or 40, or 30, or teens give this one a whirl

There are some real jewels in it.

I love Armin and think he can do no wrong. I was right! This album to fantastic. You can listen to it from start to finish and be on a journey. It juist shows what raw talent he has and how much he has put into it. It has a lot of emotion and feeling in it. Esp in track 3., unforgivable, listen to the lyrics! A wonderfully powerful tune.
What are you wainting for, purchase now!!!!!

Just had my new garden furniture delivered and take great pride in assembling it and putting it on the balcony then standing back and admiring it. I would feel very old and sad even though I'm only 27 would it not be for the fact that I was listening to 15 yrs of Cream whilst doing it and dancing around the flat like a loon. My boyfriend bought me this CD for our 21st month anniversary last week and I strongly suggest to anyone who used to go clubbing from 1999 onwards to get it, its amazing, tune after tune blasting out of my stereo, a real treat. I've played it over 10 times since I've got it and can guarantee I won't be tiring of it.... feel like I'm 19 yrs old all over again!
