One great track (Live forever) and a lot of average material. Although they would do better with Morning Glory they were never as good as the totally overlooked Diesel Park West (Check out the truly seminal "Shakespeare, Alabama").

I bought this album on the strength of Dream Catch Me, something I don't usually do without hearing more, but a decision I certainly don't regret in this case.

Vocally, he has hints of Jack Johnson and Adam Levine, and delivers each song with soul, energy and enthusiasm. There are no bad, weak or filler tracks on this album, which sounds polished but still raw.

Despite the similarities I mentioned earlier, Faulkner still sounds totally unique and has a lot of talent. I enjoy this album, which manages to relax me when I need relaxation, as well as stimulate me when I need an energy boost.

One of the best debut albums in recent years.

The hardest working guy in music is back with his second full length solo album, a year after the debut - where does he find the time? Love, Ire and Song is musically more accomplished than Frank's previous output, though a little less energetic.

This time around the lyrical themes draw mostly upon his recent experiences as a solo artist who seemingly never stops, especially the impact of this non stop work ethic on relationships. This is nothing new, Frank has always sung about what is on his mind. Compare Frank's honesty to the majority of "production line pop" love songs and it is easy to see why he has such a loyal fan base. Frank will not short change you with fantasy worlds, false experiences or anything such nonsense.

I liked this album a lot. It starts off strong and gets better through to the two songs at the end, which for me were the highlights. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful music, beautifully produced. A melancholy album pretty much through and through I felt, and that would be my only criticism. Nothing pacey and upbeat to help mix it up a bit. Four stars from me.

Quite simply the best peice of music to exist today. Each and every song is an epic and will leave you listening to it over and over again. Cobains voice is powerful throughout the album and for me its hard to pick out a favourite song but it will have to be "Drain You". If you like music and havent heard this album yet, then you must. it was the beginning of a passion for rock music for me and it still gets played very loudly on my hi-fi.

This album is undoubtedly a cut above the unnecessarily huge number of indie pop albums being churned out at the moment. The songs are instant hits with catchy melodies and energetic music to back them up. After a few listens though, and a massive amount of radio airplay, what remains is a collection of tunes you're a little bit sick of.

The standout tune for me is Creepin' Up The Backstairs, the only track inventive enough to keep me wanting to listen weeks after I bought the album.

This album is awful. Terrible vocals, terrible songs, so-so backing - you begin to get the idea. This is a record that is completely lacking in charisma and imagination. Put it this way if he was still in the army they would have had him put him against the wall and shot!

The 'Dylan Phase' refers to a statement a friend once made in regards to Bob Dylan's 1965-1967 phase, when everything he released, wheather on any of his albums or bootleg recordings, seemed to resonate with such greatness and importance as to reduce everything else to a mere substitute.

This is how I now feel Okkervil River are currently enjoying. With each release they seem to edge closer to a greatness that many aspire to but rarely claim. 'The Stage Names' was one of 2007's best records and this album just proves the vast amount of songwriting and playing talent that the band were creating around the time.

Songs such as 'Lost Coastline' and 'Bruce Wayne Campbell.......' would have perfectly slotted onto the parent album, but at the ... Read More:

More melodic than Mr A-Z and so the production is slightly different to suit the style and its a fantastic result! A very gifted singer/songwriter, Favourite song is Butterfly; if i had to choose my favourite song's i would struggle so ive narrowed it down to just one.

The album such great feel and some great moments such as on Make It Mine in the 2nd verse, the few seconds before it goes into the chorus, the hits on buttefly are fantastic, the subtlety of the percussion on Coyotes starting with the electronic groove and moving to a real drum sound is genius. Theres plenty on here to make you say "this is a great album"

Big thumbs up!
