I am gutted cos I have lost one of the CDs in this amazing double album. Even with one CD is is TOPS. My favorites are Lemar singing the Darkness Track, and James Blunt singing Lemar..... as I said Pure Gold!

This album proved that Radiohead could produce excellent radio friendly rock music.

It is full of brilliant songs. My favourites - Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry and Street Spirit.

Thom Yorke's bleak lyrics we have become so familiar with are present in here but perhaps not as obvious as in the later albums due to the strength of Greenwood's guitar in most tracks.

It seems as though the band proved to themselves with this album that they could do the "Britpop" album. You have to admire them for moving on the "The Bends", which was very successful, to the more challenging directions taken in later albums.

However this album stands on its own as a classic in its own right.

Weezer were never a unique group, their blend of Kiss inspired tunes mixed with Beach Boys harmonies are true to the fact that they were nothing more four college/university friends putting together the music they loved. Of course their career has remained a storied one thanks to the awkwardness of River Cuomo's mindscape.

Although it was probably in a bad position when it was released back 1994, Weezer's self titled debut was and still remains their shining moment. Mostly famous for the Spike Jonze directed video for Buddy Holly and the incomparable Undone (Sweater Song), Weezer (or The Blue Album) is a blueprint (excuse the expression) in geekiness.

This is also probably the greatest reason why Rivers is one of the best ... Read More:

Constructive criticism is one thing, but some of the scathing reviews I have read on here are nothing short of pathetic.

Quite what the hell people expect from Oasis in this day and age is beyond me. After years of relative underachievement, 'DBTT' should be celebrated not berated.

Between the release of 'Supersonic' in 1994 and the enormity of Knebworth in 1996, Oasis were untouchable. Two classic albums, nine fantastic singles (with phenomenal b-sides often topping them), a clutch of era-defining gigs... they weren't a band, they were living legends, and like many teenagers back then, Oasis meant the world to me.

But 'Be Here Now', for all its inspired moments (DYKWIM?, Fade In/Out, Don't Go Away) arguably pushed the formula too ... Read More:

I wont lie to you, I bought their first album and totally hated it.
I love this album however, and really felt I should write a review upon seeing the unfair average rating this has received so far.
The guy that did the ridiculous screaming on the first album has gone - and so has the rubbish song writing.
I am not the kind of person who judges music by lyrics (unless they are glaringly awful like 'I am a mountain, I am the sea'), so maybe I am wrong in saying that the lyrics on this album are totally inoffensive. I am sure I am not wrong in saying that this album is jam packed with well written, catchy, melodic rock songs that you wont want to skip.

Brett Anderson will always have a stalwart fan base of devotees who will lavish praise upon his work. Whereas there are elements here which are lovely, a word I have chosen specifically for its lack of actual meaning, the whole in itself disappoints.
Ostensibly inspired by responses to his stripped down solo gigs where he mixed his own materials with Suede classics, I find this recording to lack emotional punches, it's miserable. It is mannered, it is stylized, but there is nothing here which he hasn't done before - and actually done better. I would investigate the live recordings - if you can get hold of them, which of course you can't now bacause they were limited editions, good one Brett - the sound is exactly the same but the songs are infinitely better. Disappointing ... Read More:

Well what can you say. Since buying this CD its rarely been off my CD player in the house or the car and that's not mentioning the mp3 player!! I knew a number of the tracks anyway as I've seen them 4 times this year but I was surprised at how good this album turned out to be. Not one duff track and them back at their very best. roll on December when I see them again.

This album is great and definately worth the wait with the most outstanding songs being: Hippy's Son, Plastic Hearts, Tired of England, Faultlines and Best Face.... So half the album really, which proves just how great this album is. Infact the other songs i feel are not very far behind and i am sure they will grow on me.
This album shows the Dirty Pretty Things find a slightly calmer sound while still keeping that angry, exciting energy.
So all in this is a very successful second album and i think they have not fallen into the trap of producing poor quality second albums. This album shows the Dirty Pretty things find their style.
