As others have stated I am of a certain age but to keep up with my nephews and neices I try to keep abreast of what is going on in the world of popular music.... with this in mind I watched the Mercury Music Awards... and I was blown away by the quality and diversity of what is out there.
Neon Neon's Stainless Style were one of the nominated albums and they performed a track from the album and thought this is good should get the album. A great move it is a triumph, a clean crisp sound of fused guitars and electronica. This album will live in my car and give me buzz everytime I drive. It's drivetime music perfected.

Just check out the clean guzzling bass line on Muscle Museum. The song sets up the perfect suburbian distopia and turns into nothing short of the perfect pop rock single when Matt's voice melts into a suspended guitar solo.

Elsewhere theres the title track Showbiz, an epic of enclosing tension and Cave a similar epic flooding with teenage anxt.

The back end of this record reveals more wonderfully rounded heavy yet alternative rock songs. The lyrics are spot on all the way through especially in Escape and Overdue.

Theres a lush little acoustic ballad too in Unintended, so good they still sing it on tour.

This is where Muse started off, with a CD just as good as all the others, sure the songs might not ... Read More:

If you have the previous boxed edition of this album you have to buy a duplicate copy of the cd just to get hold of the dvd!
I suppose the state of cd sales is such that record companies feel they have to rip off customers to get what they can out of us.
Perhaps Goldfrapp might rethink the way they sell their music to their fans in future?

A few years ago I remember buying this and thinking it was a really good album and it is a very good album, it has great lyrics, good riffs, and great songs and that's all you need. My favourite songs are "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Figure .09", "Breaking The Habit" & Numb". I don't mind what genre they are in they are a good band (if you forget about there new album), they are much better then Korn & Limp Bizkit and have much more talent, but still it was obviously never gonna be as good as Megadeth's So Far So Good So What! or Black Sabbath self titled debut but those are totally different genres and my own opinion. So overall this is an excellent album recommended for Linkin Park fans and fans of rap metal.

One of the main reasons I like ... Read More:

(this a review I worte back in 2005 and only found again recently)

this album rocks. period.

I understand how people can complain about it being more 'pop' than their older albums, with songs like Boulevard, and Wake me up when september ends, but come on, its still full of stuff that rocks! st. jimmy, give me novachaine, american idiot, jesus of suburbia! can you see the lieks of good charlotte doing these songs?

The album itself its amazing. Of course, I don't expect some people to be able to appreciate it for what it is. A story. A political statement. A damned good album.

Eurythmics made some of the greatest sounds of the 1980 in many genres, not just the standard synth-pop. Lennox & Stuart also made a major contribution in the forgotten band The Tourists before the birth of Eurythmics. Unfortunately this album contains too many tracks already available on Greatest Hits.

Some less inspired songs from the 1990s have been added. This really shows a lack of interest and imagination in view of the huge treasure trove of classic album tracks. The compilers could have chosen The Last Time from Revenge, Jennifer from Sweet Dreams, Shame & Beethoven (I Love to Listen to) from Savage, When the Day Comes Down from We Too Are One and Belinda & She's Invisible Now from the obscure first album In the Garden.
But for those who never ... Read More:

i have to stop playing this cd in the car. track 7, oh antony if you knew how this song works me into a frenzy, is 'Fistful of Love' and i can't help but launch into tremulous duet, especially at this part: ' and i feeel your burning eyeees, burning holes, straight through my heart, it's outta lo-u-ve, it's outta lo-uve'. Frankly it's dangerous and not just because whipped up like that i am distracted but also because i start waving my fist around and other drivers think i am in the throes of road rage. far from it... they could cut me up all they like and all i would care about is antony, me, lou, love, fists, violence, burning eyes etc. the other songs are great too by the way.

I first heard Linkin Park's `Crawling' on a Saturday morning music show- I had never heard anything like It. I'd never really been into music before, but the angst ridden, thundering chorus of this song really spoke to me. On the strength of the single alone I bought the album and - to my delight - loved it!

Even though the album and band where bourn for an era where short-lived Nu-metal ruled the world, after which many bands failed to move on from the sound which popularized them and subsequently where soon defunct, linkin park have survived and have since built on the solid foundation of Hybrid Theory, pursuing various sounds and becoming one of the only successful bands to meld together rap and metal.

I'd be lying if I said I liked any of there more recent ... Read More:

In a way i believe this review will tie together to conflicting arguments of previous reviews.
4 times over the past 4 years i've stood in a crowd of hairy weirdos chanting the Joy.Discovery.Invention, or screaming the lyrics to Justboy- there's nothing quite like being surrounded by 1,500 like minded people singing in unison "i am hoping through the dark clouds, lights shall break and bring out bright skies"- anyone who's been there will know what i mean. Beautiful and uplifting.
And whilst the Biffy that i fell in love with would have gotten me laughed at by the same people who you'll find bopping along to this track nowadays, i don't begrudge them their success. They're an astonishingly hard-working band, didn't they play over 150 shows in one year a few years ago? And so they deserve ... Read More:
