As the title of the review says, if you dont have many stranglers albums in your collection buy this now, i have been a fan for 25 years so i know,and have many versions of all the songs on this album. However if you are thinking of buying a gift for christmas , the recipient will love this album , and why not buy the stranglers latest album SUITE XVI, a true return to form to please any fan that has an interest in probably one of the best bands to come out of the uk. I've never been one for the jazz themed white noise thrashouts so beloved of Mr Pierce, but always loved the droney cathedral rock of his earlier days (which I appreciate is just as unmusical to some ears - I absolutely love Pure Phase). Ladies and Gentlemen is undoubtedly his masterpiece (jazz themed white noise thrashouts notwithstanding), but why oh why did I not buy a second copy and keep the first fresh in its pill box? Anyway, post L&G the work declined. Some decent stuff on Let it come down, but I didn't bother with Amazing Grace. This is a return to form. I have both of Paramores albums, and have to say that this one is my favourite. Its a brilliant album from start to finish, anyone who likes rock/punk kind of music will really enjoy this. Tracks that stand out are "All we know", "Emergency", and a more quiet song "Franklin". Seriously if you havent heard Paramore, then you have to give this a try, you won't be dissappointed!!

This album proved that Radiohead could produce excellent radio friendly rock music. It is full of brilliant songs. My favourites - Fake Plastic Trees, High & Dry and Street Spirit. Thom Yorke's bleak lyrics we have become so familiar with are present in here but perhaps not as obvious as in the later albums due to the strength of Greenwood's guitar in most tracks. It seems as though the band proved to themselves with this album that they could do the "Britpop" album. You have to admire them for moving on the "The Bends", which was very successful, to the more challenging directions taken in later albums. However this album stands on its own as a classic in its own right.

You gotta admit that this is the business when a quintet of South Londoners ignored the whole punk thing and got down to making music in the style of the 60s and 70s.Especially the 70s when Wings ruled. They said Difford & Tilbrook were the new Lennon & McCartney-thats the bands built in songwriting unit but though many times they were as good there were no takers for their songs other than their own original versions. Maybe Squeeze should do a covers album as Difford & Tilbrook make their own albums either solo or collectively. Maybe somebody should do a tribute album-with so much variety the songs could easily be done 50s style. Although the band still manage to create great songs and sounds it was during the 1980s that they arguably produced some of their best work and indeed, created some of the songs of all time which made the band the worldwide phenomenon they are today. Songs like Pride, With or with out you, I still haven't found what I'm looking for and Where the streets have no name are now iconic and serve to represent what was a golden era for U2 and the music world in general. Even if your not bothered about the B sides this compilation is simply brilliant and well worth owning. For me it should be in any music lovers collection. This album is brilliant,and although it sounds typical of its genre, it sounds unique and it does not sound boring or generic. Instead, you can expect track after track of infectiously catchy, punchy, indie pop-rock with great instrumentals and vocals as well as well thought out lyrics. You've undoubtly heard I Found Out. If you liked that song, you will like the rest of the album. There are no throwaway tracks on this album and each is as good as the rest.

Hide and Seek is literally the best song I have heard this year - brilliant use of a vocorder and a fantastic vocal performance. I've recently upgraded to a decent separates system on my stereo and this is the song to test it out too. Really, really, beautiful.
