A 2 CD set of 33 tracks. CD 1 is called the Singles Collection and it does exactly what it says on the tin. Brilliant stuff! What I would describe as beaty, catchy, semi-acoustic songs with a great 60's feel to them. Jacqueline and Put the Sun Back were particular favs but there isn't a weak song here at all. This CD will stay in the car a long time. The second CD is called Mysteries and Rarities. A more mixed bag in terms of musical styles. Diehard fans will probably love it but I found some tracks making me want to hit the skip button pretty quickly. This may be unfair - I've only listened to CD 2 a few times - and perhaps they'll grow on me with time. I do hope so.

I love this album! At first I thought the second cd was boring, but after having heard it a few more times I liked it more and more, and now I think I like the quiet one even better than the loud one. I love the melodies and the calm sound, it`s great!

This is my favourite of the 2 Specials albums. 'More Specials' is quirkier, but this is equally fun and more up-tempo. I love to leap around to this record at every oportunity, (much to the annoyance of my neighbours). I could wiffle on about all of the profound lyrics and such and Terry Hall's deadpan style, but once you buy this record then you will find out for yourself. Suffice to say that this record is well worth getting for your collection. If you like that 2 tone sound, then it really doesn't get any better than this. And at this price it is a steal!!!!

Much hype surrounded the Strokes. For this album it's all warranted. An all time classic that bears repeated listening over and over again. If you make it yours it will be a part of you.

Genre-bending Hot Chip have not only released some of the singles of the year but one of its best albums. As with Gorillaz and Gnarls Barkley recently, mid-way into the `noughties' we are starting to see some real wit and invention in pop music that may come to define the decade. `The Warning' finds them putting heart and soul into their curious mish-mash of folk whimsy, house and electronica. For all the sonics and low-fi trickery, and the comedy lyrics, there is beauty and genuinity shining throughout. Their songs are unconventionally tangential, with phases and subtexts, but pulled off with a playful insouciance that belies some of the technical brilliance. With its lurid fluorescent sleeve N.M.T.B. is one of rock `n' roll's greatest debut albums. Johnny Rotten's lyrics and sneering vocals fizz with youthful angst (`Liar', `Problems' and `No Feelings) and sizzle with rebellious messages (`God Save The Queen', `Anarchy In The UK' and `EMI'). On the mordant `Bodies', the terrace-chant taunt of `Seventeen' and the exhilarating `Holidays In The Sun' the Pistols make obvious their love of the simple, primal, effective three-chord rock which Chuck Berry, The Stooges and the New York Dolls produced. These songs are all tightly structured and well-considered; they never venture far beyond 180 seconds and are sharp and snappy in sentiment and expression.

I remember the first time I heard this album on good old vinyl. Technology has moved on and when I listen to it now on this remastered edition I think you hear it how you were supposed to back in 1980. Turn the volume up on western promise and be prepared to be blown away. Every track is outstanding and the extra tracks are well hearing.

OH DEAR, OH DEAR, HAVING JUST BOUGHT THIS. I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THE TRACKS WERE RE-MASTERED FROM THE ORIGINALS (WITH THE HELP OF MORRISSEY ? ?) THEN WHO WAS THE PILLOCK THAT CHOPPED THE FULL FADE OFF "THAT JOKE ISN'T FUNNY ANYMORE" BUT LEFT THE FULL TIMING ON THE SLEEVE???? ANOTHER BRILLIANT OPPORTUNITY WASTED.... MORRISSEY AND WARNER BROTHERS.........HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME!!!

The Music return after a hefty absence with an album reminding us all what a talent they are. Despite numerous bands fusing dance and rock, they were ahead of the curve and still do it better than most. The album itself makes for great listening. There are moments such as "Fire" that could sit on either of Strength in Numbers predecessors, but the formula has been tweaked to give a fresh perspective on the bands sound. There are moments of respite in the likes of "The Spike" and "Drugs" which show a new lower range for singer Rob Harvey, and it helps give an sinister edge to proceedings. I never write reviews, but as this album has received wildly differing opinions I thought I would add mine. I love it. It's got lots of energy and the lyrics are interesting without getting too abstract. She is nothing like anything else out there, Lily Allen included (although she is great too), so don't try to compartmentalise. Just enjoy it. It's my most listened to album of the last 12 months as I can identify with the moods instilled by these songs.
