the best Xmas cd on the market at present - but not as good as the red cover Best Christmas Album in the World Ever which came out in 1995ish. To be fair this one has virtually everything but misses several key tracks - Shakin Steven's Merry Christmas Everyone, The Pretenders 2000 Mile and the Wham version of Last Christmas. It would be in bad taste for me to complain that theres no Rock and Roll Christmas by Gary Glitter but there you go. Other than these exceptions it has everything.

The problem with the Shea Stadium gig was that they were supporting a stadium rock band (The Who) and, thus, concentrated on some of their more audience-friendly tracks. The best live Clash track I have ever heard is Complete Control. Other great lives songs include White Man In Hammersmith Palais, London's Burning and Capital Radio. None of which feature here. Although there are some great Clash songs on here, and some are better than on the second half of From Here To Eternity, this does not represent the best of the Clash live. To get a true picture of what the Clash were like live, you'd probably need the first half of From Here To Eternity, mixed with a random selection of tracks from this CD. Read More:

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

This, the fourth album proper from the band, starts well with two songs that sound fresh, lively and a little different before normal service is resumed with mixed results. I wish they'd continued with the sunnier upbeat vibe of those opening tracks and made this their summer album (I already see 'Agaetis' as their wet behind the ears Spring album and '( )' their chilly winter disc). When compared to the previous three albums you'd have to conclude that this is the weakest but it is still an enjoyable listen. The next album will be the real test for the band as more of the same might not be enough to keep everyone interested.

I suppose, with any artist and any album, if you get one really good song that you can take with you, and have it for ages to listen to, then i suppose it must therefore be ok. This album has four great songs. Track one and of course Chocolate, Spitting Games and Run,which are catchy. Lead vocalist has a beautiful and strong Irish voice, which is lovely. Just disappointed with the rest of album, you sometimes have to ask, why it is some artist can;t just 12 truely fabulous tracks.

For someone who liked Hot Fuss, but didn't go crazy for it I find it bewildering that so many people think it was superior to Sam's Town. I have to sorry to those people but you are wrong Sam's Town is a fantastic album and clearly superior to HF in every aspect. Hot Fuss was a good first effort and Sam's Town is the coming of age of a band I think are just about the best around. Love it!

For someone who liked Hot Fuss, but didn't go crazy for it I find it bewildering that so many people think it was superior to Sam's Town. I have to sorry to those people but you are wrong Sam's Town is a fantastic album and clearly superior to HF in every aspect. I am gutted cos I have lost one of the CDs in this amazing double album. Even with one CD is is TOPS. My favorites are Lemar singing the Darkness Track, and James Blunt singing Lemar..... as I said Pure Gold!

I'm a huge fan of Lucinda and after seeing her in tremendous form at the glasgow barrowlands I went out and got my hands on as much stuff of hers as I could. I must admit I'm a bit disappointed with this cd - maybe it will grow on me but there seem to be few powerful songs here. It's almost as though it has been thrown together to meet contractual obligations.
