I never usually get albums on their day of release; what I normally do is wait for reviews and then go out and buy the album but with Consolers of the Lonely this was not the case. I applaud the raconteurs for bypassing the music press and just letting the fans enjoy the music without some high almighty critic clouding their better judgement. This album is another belter from Jack and co. The album starts off with the hypnotic groove of the near title track Consoler of the Lonely topped off with White's trademark solo we have all come to love. Before you have time to digest the opening song Salute Your Solution bursts in with The Raconteurs heaviest rock songs to date with interlude of a psychedellic keys giving you a moments breather before ... The popularity of this band, i'll start by saying, that i dont think they arent a good band, because they are ok. But no way are they great. Poor singing all round, extremely bad lyrics... Nothing special musically.

Perhaps the most overrated band ever, Oasis seem to continue releasing the same old stuff. Lyrics have progressed worse and worse, the music stays dull and dreary. And Noels poor singing (and liams even worse singing) make these a pretty boring band in my opinion.

I heard one of there new songs the other day (the one with the drawn video, cant remember what its called) And although it wasnt band, it seemed to be all to similar. Alot of the time it starts with a very similar tune to an old song/s but then ... Read More:

Well the Aliens return and I have to say I've been looking forward to this after the promise shown on astronomy for dogs which was my album of 2007 by a long stretch

Like the beta band before them you can expect three things from the Aliens, strange left field sounds, messy grungy dirgy sections of songs and hidden amongst it all, the most beatiful melodies on offer today. No song encapsulates this more than Billy Jack which contains all three elements.

The record for me offers highlights with Theremin a beautiful mix of beach boys harmonies and hip hop like beats. The aforementioned Billy Jack is a favourite for the wonderful wistful melodic section that you can't miss. Everyone is nice and uplifting, Daffodil is tragic ... Read More:

An all time classic album, often imitated, but never approached let alone surpassed. Zack's vocals are incredibly emotional, and the sheer tightness and funking musicality of the band is staggering (and that comes from a guy whos played in bands for 15 years himself.)

I loved this album to death fifteen years ago. Yet, when im teaching kids today and i put it on for them, it seems just as powerful for them as it was for me back then. Stunning.

I liked this album a lot. It starts off strong and gets better through to the two songs at the end, which for me were the highlights. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful music, beautifully produced. A melancholy album pretty much through and through I felt, and that would be my only criticism. Nothing pacey and upbeat to help mix it up a bit. Four stars from me.

This has to be the worst album i have ever heard . The only good track is black and gold. Save your money and just buy the single because the rest is rubbish

In term of success this album doesn't make it. I've seen the videos to 'Always right behind you' and 'What's you problem'. Always right behind you was average and what's your problem is a real let down. As for the music The Zutons sound like they didn't put much work into the lyrics or the tune for that matter. For example 'You could make the 4 wall cry' starts 'if the world was oblong shape then you would make it square' that doesn't sound like effort to me.

This album features the greatest song ever written or recorded "LOVE WILL TEAR US APART` - The rest of the songs are OK - but `Love Will Tear Us Apart` is a timeless classic, a work of art that I play about 30 times every day...it is playing now as I write this.
The vocal performance of the late great Ian Curtis is pure pop pefection...I want this song played at my funeral along with "Nothing Compares 2 U" by Sinead O`Connor and "My Death" by DAVID BOWIE.
Those three songs are better than any tonic, more moving then any hymn or national anthem and give more of a buzz than any drug.
If you dont like Joy Division or New Order - still BUY this album because "Love Will Tear Us Apart" is a reason for living...

What an embarrassment. I live in the same town as where the band are from and I'm ashamed, a real load of crap absolutely terrible.
