There are so many problems with this single; I hardly know where to start. I suppose the first problem I have is the cover art, which is almost identical with the other two singles they released simultaneously (On It and (It's Got) Issues). I mean, why? Seeing as the content of the three could more than likely be pressed onto one full-length EP anyway, why release them separately? Oh wait, money.

And on the topic of money; £10.50 for a SINGLE? WHY? Especially when you can get the full-length album the song is from for £9? What were they thinking?

The assumption behind this singles existence is clearly hoping that people will buy it solely for the bonus track at the end, but this strategy is heavily reliant on said ... Read More:

Not a million miles away from Depche Mode or some of the work by VNV Nation, so it's enjoyable, but nothing outstanding or new, of course I seriously doubt it was ever intended to be ground breaking anyway.

Rising out of the Berlin rave scene in the early 90's in an attempt to establish themselves in the 'alternative' (whatever that term means) electronic scene, ATR left their label to become the founders of Digital Hardcore Records and release their first album in 1995, Delete Yourself.

This compliation is a fair introduction to the band, spanning their entire short career from their roots in the then still emerging hardcore and breakbeat scenes to rock influences (Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine makes a guest appearance in Rage) and a dose of genuine originality.

Whether ATR truly founded a new genre - digital hardcore - or whether their music and the music on their label could easily be classed as gabber ... Read More:

Music : The Last Temptation of Reid
The previous reviews are all correct in their praise of this milestone album except that it is emphatically not metal - the artists would be most amused at this. It is a combination of Biafra's punk sensibilities (ie intelligent lyrics instead of protracted guitar solos) and Ministry's brutal industrial rock (informed by Big Black's take on hardcore). It came out in 1990 and it really set out what should have been hardcore's blueprint for that decade but, along with the more influential solo Ministry stuff, pushed more on in the metal crossover stuff. What 80s thrash metal (Metallica, Megadeth, etc) borrowed from 80s hardcore punk, numetal or whatever you call it, borrows from here. That's two pints for Jello Biafra for leading the way. Point is that ... Read More:

Play Dead's final studio album, originally released on their own Tanz label, saw the band moving into more psychedelic territory after their previous work 'From the Promised Land'. Notoriously at the time, the legendary Conny Plank opted to produce the struggling Oxford boys' album over U2's 'Unforgettable Fire', as apparently he couldn't stand the idea of working with Bono! Plank's knob-twiddling certainly brings a distinctive and unified sound to CoJ, making the whole thing feel like a complete package, with a much more 'organic' feel than FTPL.
The album's opening track, 'Witnesses' is a confident start, demanding your attention, and practically jumping down your throat - a riotous four-minute slice of psychedelic rock. Things continue in a similar ... Read More:

Right from the very start this album seems determined to prove that it is better than Wisconsin Death Trip (Static-X's first album), however, it just doesn't quite get there. The album still retains the fire and fury from the first album, it just feels a little more restrained. Don't get me wrong, I love this album, just, not as much as their first.

Their sound has changed into a more metal, less industrial sound, but is still very much an Industrial Metal album. My favourite track on the album has to be the song "This Is Not". However, the last two tracks might just as well be one long song, as I find it hard to tell the differance between the two... Ah well, this album still kicks ass!
