The reason for the lost stars - a couple of the tracks (Foreword and Liebestod) are very strongly based in classical music, and make an odd addition to what is otherwise very much gothic electronica. They may appeal to some, but they don't appeal to me, and the feel of them doesn't sit well with the rest of the album, unfortunately.
So, that's the main bad point out the way. Tracks like Carbon on here are powerful and brooding, and are great either on your CD player or to dance to at a club.
Praise for the Fallen is probably a better example of VNV Nation's work, and it doesn't suffer from neo-classical pieces thown into somwhere they look lost. Like PFTF, though, this album is grandiose, brooding, and emotive - it's pompous, political, ... Read More:

ahh help static-x have gone pop on us. but dont worry its great because you can now sing along to the band as they have proper melodies, woo-hoo. its great this album it is, there are still big riffs everywhere but they arent as prominant in the mix there is more emphasis on the beats and the vocals which by wayne static standards are restrained on this one. he actually shows that hes not too bad at holding a tune and the songs sound better for it as the band have managed to expand their sound and streamline it at the same time. they are still the same beast as before as on songs like desrtroy all and new pain but its songs like shadow zone and kill your idols and all in wait thatshow the evolution in sound that stand out. a very good album and probably the best ... For those music lovers of a certain age, Einsturzende Neubauten (or for convenience EN) represent the point at which you learned to love the sound of drilling and the clash of dustbin lids. If like me you clutched your crystal wireless under the covers to listen to the late lamented John Peel, you will love this CD. From the restrained Zentrifuge to the mighty Die Interimsliebenden, this is a fine collection of later works by Deutchland's finest. The attraction of this group lies in the fact that they work outwith the usual parameters of popular music and from a distinctly European approach, thus acting as a counterpoint to the all pervasive Americanisation of the airwaves.Thoughtful but explosive. Not only that but it allows you to make good use of those kitchen impliments ... Read More:

a new lineup and a new label did it make any difference?
i would say most definitely yes!
the band have streamlined their sound and reduced the electronics and removed the nu metal sound and tightened up the sound and brought an extremely larger chunk of aggression to the table
this is much more straightforward and direct
and because of this its a joy to hear them tear your face off the second the album erupts from the speakers
for me the two standouts are the two more melodic numbers in the form of the title track and the mighty brooding beast of a song that is bite the hand that bleeds that prove that there is still life and variety/creativity still in the band
nice to see them banish the memory of digimortal well and truely out of our minds ... Read More:

I went to see Laibach live having never even heard of them (they were recommended by a friend). They did most of this album live and it was absolutely stunning, with the title track being the highlight.

The thumping marching beats and the deep, growling vocals (sometimes in English but mostly in German) grab you at a basic 'physical' level with raw power and rhythm. But for me the real quality comes from the occasional bursts of classical inspired melody and soaring operatic style backing vocals. The first and last tracks and the excellent title track are brilliant examples of this.

SO this is the new offering from Trent Reznor's Nine inch Nails, and what a single to put out! This song is easily NIN'm most accesible to date and it's very catchy with a good rhythm throughout. So now lets Review the CD...

1) Only
The song is brilliant, very high quality stereo resolution and crisp clear audio playback. This song starts with a catchy drumbeat followed shortly after with synth and piano (not too far detached from NINs previous work) but the catch is the vocals. Brilliant, is the word to be used, the lyrics are fantastic and Trent couldn't have sung them better. This song is one of the best on the album 'With Teeth' for sure.

2)The Hand that Feeds (photek Remix)
In my opinion this isn't very good, nine or so minutes of stereo bleeping and the like. ... Read More:

Music : Family Values Tour '98
This is a brilliant album from artists who are now starting to get their props. Each of the 6 artists get their own section with hip-hop interludes between them.

Incubus - Only one song but it's pretty good.

Orgy - Possibly the best section as all three songs are top notch, Especially 'Blue Monday' which is possibly the best track on the album.

Limp Bizkit - Alright section could've been better but still 'Cambodia' rocks, but is a mix of 'Show Me What You Got' and 'Dead Cell'(Papa Roach) with new lyrics, Faith isn't great as Fred misses loads of lyrics out but 'Jump Around' is cool.

Ice Cube - High quality section with three cool tracks. He interacts with the crowd and plays the awesome 'Check Yo Self'. 'Natural Born Killaz' is great too as is the mix of ... Read More:
