After listening to NIN now for 4 years, I have every album but may not know them them as well as the 'older' generation who have grown up with NIN music, but I can safely say that I do love Nine Inch Nails as much as the biggest fan.

So, I hear about Year zero remixed, I already have 'Year Zero' and I thought the whole concept was brilliant. The noise, the rhythm, just everything. And from the other remixes 'fixed, further down...etc. I knew this one would be just as good. Then I find out it's different artists, their own interpretations of the songs.

The remixes are good. But I would have loved to have heard Trent's versions, his remixes. There are some really stand out tracks for me,these are:

if you were to look up industrial metal in the dictionary you should see a picture of this album as it easily the most appropriate band to fit the name as most other industrial acts seen to emphasise the electronic elements it is used here to sharpen a very heavy metal sound.
in effect what we have here is a death metal album with electronics and as such there was nothing like it at the time of release and there still isn't much that can match it to this day.
the thing is that it excells everywhere! from the glorious stabbing riffs that litter the whole album or the superhuman drumming ............. but probably the best part is the mesmerising performance that comes out of burtons mouth!
this guy has a voice that most vocalists would ... Read More:

Thirteen years after the debut 'Pretty Hate Machine' slipped quietly onto US shelves (with estimated sales of 20,000), Nine Inch Nails release their eighth album, a no doubt multi-million shifting lavish double set in a fabric box.

All other considerations aside (the steep price tag, the increasing exploitation of a small set of original material; with a remix album for every studio set on his own label, and now a live package as well), 'And All That Could Have Been / Still' is one of the best live recordings ever officially released. The first disc, taken from the final eight US dates of the bands tour, combines excellent musicianship with a crisp, strong mix that supercedes any other NIN release.

I love NIN have done for years and this is my first SACD and frankly I am still recovering, it is awsome. I would say CD's are the past but looking at the titles available for SACD's maybe not. Why has this format never taken off, I don't get it?. So many things you have never heard right there in your face, its the mutts nuts. Buy it, buy it now!

It's always deeply unsettling how any Throbbing Gristle album manages to be futuristic yet somehow so grubby and nasty: a feeling that the times aren't just going to be a-changing but are going to be a-mangled and a-inappropriately touched along the way. That aside, I can't listen to 20 Jazz Funk Greats without also feeling a real sense of The New. A feeling that something strange and alien had plopped itself into the world and was now residing in the hands of angry little misanthropes like Genesis P-Orridge. Like fellow synth pioneers Devo, Kraftwerk and Suicide before them, TG had little to no idea what would follow in their wake. It's no surprise to me, however, that we owe the best and worst of electronic music to TG. From New Order to Girls Aloud, from the ... Read More:

"Yesterday is a Friend" is an extremely enjoyable album of inventive and adventurous progressive rock from Polish band Believe.

It was only last year that I became acquainted with Polish progressive rock music through the excellent Riverside and their "Out of My Head" trilogy of albums. Both Believe (through their MySpace page and website) and their management like to make a comparison between them and that more famous band, as well as with even more stellar British bands such as Porcupine Tree and even Pink Floyd.

Soundscape wise the closest Believe come to these bands is to Riverside, particularly when the lead guitarist grabs the focus on the arrangement. However, citing these bands is not just a mere publicity stunt as their fans would ... Read More:

It was surely typical that when his successors were experimenting with a lightweight, introspective brand of 'art-rock', David Bowie would produce an album so ambitious and so muscular, it would leave his admirers licking their wounds and wondering what had hit them. 1. Outside is an album no-one else could have made, it purports to have a plot, a concept, telling a story of artcrime and murder. The sleeve contains the story and yet anyone trying to piece the story and the music together to form a coherent narrative will surely be disappointed. This isn't a work of cohesion- it's about a series of disjointed sounds and images that combine to create a fascinatingly dense and disorientating landscape.

The energy and volume on tracks such as The Heart's Filthy Lesson ... Read More:

Possibly the best packaged album I own, this is another fine album by Germany's finest. Still the recognisable Rammstein style with many variations in tempo and power in here and remarkably easy to get into. Perhaps not as powerful and consistent as Mutter, I still give this 5 stars as under the Amazon star system it deserves them because I LOVE this album.
